Icemat Earphones Review

icemat

I tested the Icemat Earphones last week, the in-ear model while skating and the headset while working and listening to music.

Icemat is one of the sponsor of the current RN Wallpaper Design Contest.

up : Icemat : In-ear black and white models

In-ear Model :

I skated the last 5 months with the ipod earphones and well the switch to the icemat phones was a huge surprise. I won’t go into tech details, all the specs of the beast are here (frequency, impedance), but the switch was noticeable and you don’t need a scientist to understand that (throw your ipod phones).

I felt like in a sound system, great basses and a great render of the music. You may be familiar with the Koss earplugs, the Icemat have the same concept : it protect your ear from outside parasite noises (well don’t use them too much while driving) and what is better is the system of the maleable plastic which fit your ears, that unline the koss one won’t make your ear bleed : while using my koss plugs, it was really painfull, either the plugs were too big, or my ears holes too small. Anyway the Icemat system won’t bring you pain, it worked perfectly for my small ears.

Headset Model :

icemat

Ok for the headset, i used them almost all day a whole week, i work most of the time with music, so it was an intense use :) First the look : the headset is really nice, shiny (i have the white model), with a futuristic design. No problem with the quality of the sound render, i have another sennheiser wireless headset, and well i didn’t noticed any loss of quality : well i didn’t launched any tuning subwoofer geeky test to compare the results, but i was satisfied with what i used. The specs are here.

The headset comes with a mic that you can put on your tie or your tee, with the possibility to put it off.

So in conclusion, i was really happy with the Icemat products ! i can’t wait to see the next products, i hear that they will have new pimp color for the headset, red ferrari and nice stuff.

newer ipod headphones are the best they fit perfect and never fall out, those in ear ones are uncomfy and fall out as well as damm expensive…..il still ti the free replacement on the ipod ones!

I use the koss ones religiously. I like the fact they have an ear plug type of foam that you crush to insert them and they expand and actually seal the sound into your ear. This gives the sound so much more depth, and bigger bass (for in ear style). Not once have they ever just fallen out. Plus they are only like 12 bucks.

    These in:ears cost 30 euro’s - I don’t believe you’ll get better ones for that price, but nevermind. :)

Have you ever tried these? I garantuee you they wont fall out. The rubber pieces will expand, to fit your ear and give comfort - plus the layer of foam inside them takes away the outside noise.

These in:ears aren’t like the regular ones, which go with your mobile phone or whatever - these are specially made and are way different than the ones you seem to have tried…

Well…here’s my deal, I own in-ear sony headphones that deliver great sound and they stay in great… The problem is this.. I cant hear shit outside the muisc.. I like the stock ipod ear-buds because I can hit pause and hear people..and I can even hear a bit while the music is on… Does anyone know any tricks to get the ipod ear-buds to stay in your freakin ears..that’s my only compliant… Mostly my right ear :)

anyone know where i can find the koss ones for 12$?? and how much are these icemat ones/where….?

Here’s the problem with in-ear headphones, they damage your listening abilities more that other headphones. The best headphones are the ones you place on your ears. You have models that twist on to your ear and don’t fall off while skating.

You can bring arguments like “but the soundquality sucks with those headphones”, but what are you with a really good soundquality while your ears are getting destroyed? You won’t be able to enjoy the really good soundquality for very long…

  11. koubis Says:

well obviously any earphones damage your ears if you put the volume too high.

  12. Mr.Red Says:

    +1 Koubis

  13. Unrivaled Says:

With in-ear headphones you can listen at very low volumes cause the outside noise is blocked out and while skating i always set my earphones at a very low level, so i can still hear my skates lock on and stuff…
And in-ear headphones can hurt in the beginning if your not used to them, but after time(couple of weeks) you can hold them on for hours comfortably…

  14. Matthew Rennehan Says:

Skullcandy Headphones are the shit. Those type of earbuds are the best. Cancels out all noise from the outside.

  15. KKO Says:

rouler avec un mp3 c’est pour les autistes.

  16. DANIELSON Says:

I personally don’t care about brands. I do however, prefer the ear phones with the wrap around peice of plastic that keeps them in on. They are a happy medium between standard/old school and in ear plugs. I might like the plugs better if I had some little padding on them . But mine are just hurtfull little plastic peices that come out to easily.

  17. zach Says:

    really nice i love them
