Heroic levels of commitment to customisation.
Hope a company somewhere has the sense to give him a wage and stick him on their staff/payroll.
Need more committed thinkers when it comes to tinkering with boots to drastically improve them.
Props.

JUst so you guys know. Due this in a well ventilated area due to the fact that the GLUE IS FUCKIN TOXIC. You dont want breath that in. WHERE A RESPIRATOR.
November 29th, 2011 at 3:33 pm
Massive props. That was very interesting and helpful, thanks.

This is such a sick tutorial! I was going to sell my white carbon 1′s and get the black ones just for a colour/set-up change. But now this has given me soooo many idea’s :D
November 29th, 2011 at 4:23 pm
thats mental, can literally make your own perfect skates! i would just worry that my toes would be pretty exposed to getting knocked without the toe cap, and you would definitely need to re-attach the powerstrap or your ankle is gona move eveywhere. sick tho man!
November 29th, 2011 at 4:29 pm
that is one expensive idea.

“*WHERE* A RESPIRATOR.”
I dunno, Dude… Where is it? Hahaha- eh— yeah…
November 29th, 2011 at 5:23 pm
Who the fuck wants to cut his own skates that he payed 300 euros for them ?!?!
November 29th, 2011 at 5:35 pm
So he invented the carbon 2! wait…. USD released it 1 year ago! carbon 1 with cuff, improved forward flex and more comfortable, yes all that work for nothing.
GENIUS!
I am not saying it was not entertaining to watch, but basically that’s a lot of work for something you can buy, to me it just proves how well made the USD carbons are, even with a razorblade and a heat gun it took ages to destroy the boots.
You better buy some carbons 3 and spend more time skating!
November 29th, 2011 at 5:43 pm
with that, owner of deshi, first usd carbon can “update” them without spend 300€ in an others boots , it basically cost a spoiler, so this is helpful , stop crying haters because you already bought some carbon 2s and throw away your old usd

Excellent tutorial, one of the main things sk8in is missing(other many other things) is quality advice on modding and customizing skates. Anyone thats been skating for 10+ years(like myself) has seen alot of hardware change over the years and the formula for the ‘dream skate’ will likely never exist since everyone skates differently.
Kudos for taking the time to make this vid, definitely inspired me to pick up some carbons down the line since I had all the same comfort and flex concerns with the carbon shells you did.
Also ol school Feinburg liners ARE the best ever made, tried RB,Vicious, Razors, Trust etc and now finally Jug Argyle 2′s… Don’t rely on skate manufacturers to read your mind, examples like this show the community and the industry what we need on our feet. Keep up the great work! Also – your GB mods mods are amazing, well done :-D

KROKODIL probably a guy whos not happy with his skates?….
i think its a cool idea.
I support this dude he is changing everything he doesnt like in his skates.
I think someone should start making handmade skates like exclusive and only for your feet. I will buy them
November 29th, 2011 at 6:28 pm
@J.311
he probably spends more time skating than you in a week than you would in a year. taking that he spends time with his skates shows how motivtated and dedicated he is to blading.
@Krokodil
those are some back dated skates so his probably already got other pairs of new blades already (take note J.311) which is probably why he mingles around heaps with those pairs, he has nothing to lose.
so you ask why do this when this is already in the new and improved USD’s, well why the fuck not, why not have spare set ups laying around and change your blades every 2 sessions, keep it fresh thats why!!
November 29th, 2011 at 6:31 pm
big ups by the way, the dude is a thinker thats for sure!
November 29th, 2011 at 6:53 pm
Reminds me off what i did to my salomon st-90s, thanks to skateset-up.com for the ideas, and as for this dude Ima probably down the road follow suit once I ware through my next pair off carbs or two. Bigg ups dude, keep the dreams alive through rolling:)

November 29th, 2011 at 8:15 pm
carbon 1′s were garbage anyway.
November 29th, 2011 at 8:36 pm
Man… I wanted to finish this vid, cause I love stuff like this. Not that I ever actually do them, but I just like DIY stuff. Back on wanting to finish the vid… Did anyone else find the music about half way through to be quite overwhelmingly LOUD?!? I could barely hear what he was saying. I’ll grunt through it later when I’m not at… um… work. o_O

Where’d the video go? :(
November 30th, 2011 at 1:46 am
this video was sick, put it back up. probably gonna mod mine up once i get all the necessary tooling.
November 30th, 2011 at 3:44 am
Sorry everyone! The music was too loud in one part so I had to re-upload it!

That’s the new link.
I appreciate every bit of feedback! But a lot of you that are saying this is either pointless or that it “is” a USD Carbon 2 are missing 2 points.
1. I built my first pair of these before the Carbon 2 came out(hence the shot of the Deshi Carbon that had been modded.
2. REMOVABLE LINERS! I don’t see the point of paying over $300 for a pair of boots when the liner is going to wear out and therefor your 5 year carbon warranty is worthless.
3. Customization. You cannot change anything on your Carbons except soul plates. Most cuffs will not fit and if they do they will be too tall. You certainly cannot change the liners without either doing this or just gutting the liners out and replacing them. You can make them look however you want, fit however you want and feel however you want. There is no end to what you can make with this mod.
Thanks again for all the feedback!

***3 points, not 2***. Added a valuable one there at the end.
November 30th, 2011 at 4:16 am
boring video, unnecessary “mods”, shitty skater…yawning
November 30th, 2011 at 9:07 am
Its realy nice to see how the carbons are made. looks like a quality boot.
Also its embarrassing, watching someone pulling a perfect skate 300$ to pieces. thats a month meal for a poorly family
November 30th, 2011 at 12:47 pm
nice t-shirt ^^
November 30th, 2011 at 1:52 pm
VALO LIGHT and CARBON II . Have you heard?
November 30th, 2011 at 1:54 pm
should always mod skates to improve them. boots arnt made perfect.
November 30th, 2011 at 4:53 pm
I just want to point out that I’ve never paid for than $50 for a pair of Carbons or I’ve gotten them in a trade.
The guy I got these ones in this video tried to heat mold them in the oven and completely melted the toe area on the other skate. So no, this was not a waste. I was bringing back to life destroyed skates! :)

nice work. the interesting point is that the most expensive skate have the less materials finally maybe it possible to make a carbon style skate with a seven. or a throne UFS as finally the boot is nothing
December 3rd, 2011 at 3:39 pm
I love this shit, why am I sitting around and waiting 15 years for these amateur companies to make something I like. With my collection of old blades and shoes I can make something epic!
thanks for the push man.

No problem. Get it done and post it on a forum so I can see it!
