How skating lets me escape from Tourette’s

Eighteen-year-old student Greg Storey, who has Tourette’s Syndrome explains to BBC Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates why he does not tic when he skates or drums.
He was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome at the age of six and has severe physical and verbal tics.
Reggie Yates is bringing together a group of young people diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome for a one-off live musical performance.
The documentary is currently airing in the UK on BBC Three.
You can check it online at Bbc.co.uk.
Tourette syndrome is an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder with onset in childhood, characterized by multiple physical (motor) tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic (more on Wikipedia). Thanks Simon Mulvaney.

So awesome that skating – in whatever form – can returnn some normality to his life! Really sweet story!
Makes one think how good rolling is though – I know for me, when I put on my skates I forget about all my worries and problems immediately and I just get lost in the moment, even more so when the session kicks in at a sick rail/ledge/gap or park.
This guy just proves how true an escapism rollerblading really is!
And Anonymous – seriously what type of fool bastard are you?

Wow… That’s pretty gnarly. I wonder if it’s just a matter of time before he can develop a psychological trigger for anything he does so that he can theoretically cure himself.
Good stuff.
