Hi Definition Streaming video on Dailymotion.com

I was checking my geeky daily news and here is a thing that will make rolling video editors happy (people whine all the time about the bad quality of actual streaming videos).
Stage6 allready offers streaming videos in HD (+ download of the video), but here is the thing : Stage6 need an extra codec (people are lazy to install it, their favourite admin will kill them if they do, or worse you don’t have install rights if you’re still a student) ; Stage6 needs a Divx / mp3 encoded video to accept the upload, plus last but not least: the video is only streamed in HD (results: it takes hours to have a global preview of the video).. Wet explosive.
So here is the good news : dailymotion.com is starting to support HD videos (not sure if the upload is allready active).
Here are the awesome things about the dailymotion.com HD videos:
- no need to install anything that you don’t allready have, the flash plugin now support the H.264 codec (HD): just accept the update that your browser may ask
- The streaming video is displayed at a normal size, but you can enlarge it (to enjoy HD) with this button :

- You can switch between a normal / HD Stream while reading the video, without having the video to reload (awesome to find a moment on the video without having to wait the stream): click on

Here is an HD sample (video game from Codemasters):
More on dailymotion.com/hd/), we’re hopefully getting rolling HD streaming videos soon ^^
The video may not load if you don’t have enough bandwith or if you have a old version of the flash plugin.

Looks good, got the same nice features.
It seems that the HD upload is ready on Dailymotion & Vimeo too.
About youtube:
// YouTube’s Steve Chen told Liz Gannes and Om Malik in November that YouTube is not focused on enabling HD as much as they are on universal access.

Silvstr: with an XL2, you still can produce nice 720×576 quality videos, which are a lot better than the old youtube/dailymotion resolutions ! :)
