Fruitbooting Vs. Woodpushing : The Documentary
Synopsis : A documentary on the on going feud between rollerblading and skateboarding. This film takes a bizarre twist for the worse.
“Alright people, here’s my present to you all. It is my final project in school, i graduate on friday, and going into the wonderful industry of film. I had an interview with Electronic Arts yesterday for a video co-op job and they said i had one of the best student demo reels they have ever seen. I have 1/3 chance of getting the position (i got shortlisted to the top 3 applicants) so wish me luck. Also, I have sent the intro sequence of Do You Know Howie Doo? to Los Angelas for a video contest. I intend to promote rollerblading even more so now that i am out of school and have my sources to attach myself to. I hope you guys enjoy the documentary. It is nothing you will expect it to be. Be patient as the file is ginormous. Rollerblading is the best thing ever.”

It was a short film/documentary which means that there was a little role playing and shit. There was a lot of acting. That was the dilema in the film. And by the way whats it like not having Health Care you fuck. Try and mock us of something that is amazing which you don’t have. Its like we got all the best toys and your stuck with a washerboard and pic up jacks.

firstly, its a documentary that turns into a mockumentary halfway through. Yes, a documentary is supposed to present facts, but with a film like this, it doesn’t really fit into a genre which is the beauty of it (well i thought so anyways).
Secondly, why the sudden outburst of hate towards Canada? We live in some land across an imaginary line that someone made up. What’re you trying to prove?
I’m sorry I wasted everybodies time. Instead I should have made a film with rollerblading tricks back to back with a terrible rap song, no personality, no sense of style etc. This film is going into numerous film festivals under the “documentary” category. Not only does it expose rollerblading to the public and realize how amazing it is. It gives an uprise to how ridiculous the conflict between the sports are. What was the last thing you ever contributed to rollerblading other than shit talking other rollerbladers films on the internet. What? Nothing? Oh thats too bad man.

I guess thats a good effort, but i really wasnt happy about it at all. Im trying to give you some constructive criticism. I have a friend thats a freshman in highschool that would have filmed a better documentary in a month. If your in college you need to focus on shit, i mean yeah you had some snow, people with out any hatred towards the other sport. But then use that and twist the documentary. The fact that there is no hate between the sports is good, maybe not to prove your conflict, but you could have shown skateboarding magazie ads against rollerblading, or went to walmart and questioned the kids buying 30 dollar complete decks. I work at a skateshop and i see a lot of dumbass kids that hate rollerblading or sktaeboarding, i rollerblade, yet i probably have just as many if not more skateboarder friends. The filming quality could have been better, angles, composition, shakyness while skating with camera. I really dont mean to sound like a smart ass or a bitch. But come on. sorry if its taken wrong…

I think you’re missing the point that the documentary is supposed to be a documentary about making a documentary that turns into a mockumentary halfway through. Yes i am sorry it was disappointing that we couldn’t capture any conflict on camera, but thats the whole funny part is that there is obviously a conflict and we failed to do that. To be honest i think this documentary is much more entertaining then if someone were to actually talk shit.
Also, please don’t tell me that i need to focus on my shit, i’ve come out of school with some great films. If you don’t believe me then you can check out my newest skating video coming out called “Do You Know Howie Doo?” Again, thanks for the criticism nigger.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw this but I am doing a documentary about this rivalry for my senior project at Santa Clara University, near San Francisco in California. We are running into some of the same problems, but have actually got some negative responses. Not as much as we’d like, but at least something. We might also focus on the fading popularity of inline skating since it’s spike in the 90’s and how skateboarding took a similar dive in it’s early days. Any thoughts? Anyone here from the Bay Area that would like to be interviewed?
And, btw, Randy and Joe, pretty good recovery on your project!

I’m studying Film at University (thats what we call college down here in Australia) and believe me, it’s not as simple as going out with a camera and shooting shit. Especially if it is going to be screened publically - congrats on that by the way.
There is a shitload of copyright and permission for shooting paperwork and legal shit that has to be worked through to make a film like that - you can’t just waltz in to ‘Walmart’ and interview kids - you need to go through other shit so your allowed to do that - and you also might need to pay ca$$$h….
So good film, it’s not easy - I know, trust me hahaha - to all the haters out there - i’d like to see your nerdy asses makin something that good - hey bitches, ever heard of white balance or aperture???? So don’t heap shit on something a fellow roller made, appreciate the fact that he’s trying to get our sport some more exposure… I don’t see any of you doing that eh?
oh, Btw - as for ‘acting’ in the documentary (again) - for major Producing companies to accept your offer to film a documentary, you ahve to pitch a script for this documentary… I’ll let you’se all think about that for a while
