Fix Bearings: Press Release

Fix Bearings

FIX bearings was founded by Albert Hooi just over a year ago.

We have been testing bearings for that whole time until we had an ABEC 7 capable of withstanding the needs of our team.

We are proud to introduce the first FIX team bearing…. We hope you like them as much as we do..
As for the future of Fix bearings, you can expect some quality garments, pro bearings and a fresh website to drop early next year.

PRO TEAM – ALBERT HOOI, DOM SAGONA, DEMETRIOS GEORGE, NICK LOMAX, FRAZER WATSON & ERIC PERKETT.

Fix Bearings
Thanks Mark Trebble.

  1. LOL Says:

More power drill bearings sold as skate bearings. Just what we need.

The only brand in rollerblading that sells real skate bearings is eulogy(craps). They are based on bones reds. Pro speed skaters swear by bones swiss. I use Bones SS6, by far the best rolling, most durable, and cleanable bearings ever made.

  2. Mikel Says:

i skated craps once, dint really like them too much

  3. Leon Says:

LOL .. you need to get your head out of your arse and support the real companies… How can you slate something you havent tried, calling them out before you even know what they ride like…

As for Eulogy fuck supporting skateboarders and fuck paying a stupid amount for bearings to ruin skating street… I had bones and yes they were fast but after a few street sessions i destroyed them…
FUCK LOL and fuck EULOGY a company owned by Powell skateboards and an industry that hate rollerblading an mock it at every given opportuntiy..

  4. LOL Says:

ok. fuck having the best wheels on the market. Ya you are smart. By spending our money on the best products we can force the other companies to design better products just to compete. But if we buy into the bullshit rollermarketing and rollertrends we only fuck ourselves and make shady people rich. You do know the whole “tight pant” trend was developed to get the average skater to stop buying clothing from companies like ecko and other hip-hop brands.

  5. Feist Says:

Tight Pants were invented because clown pants and 2xl tees look like shit.

  6. andreas542 Says:

At the end of the day, bearings are bearings, and I’ve never really noticed that much different between my budget no-brand ABEC 3s and my Eulogy Crap ABEC 7s.

I’m currently rolling on the FIX ABEC 7s and I can safely say they are good bearings. I’ve had a few sessions in the wet with them and they are holding up really well.

I think the things that will make me buy these again are:
    1. Supporting a UK rollerblader-run company. I’ve got to buy bearings from somewhere, so might aswell splash out a few extra £££ and support UK rolling.
    2. They come in a cool syringe thing, which I now have on my desk and is fun to squirt people in the face with. I don’t get this with other bearings.

IMO, it’s good to see this company on the market.

  7. Leon Says:

By spending you money on skateboard owned companies you serve to do nothing for our industry at all… so in that respect your a cunt.
As for the best wheels i just got the new eulogys as i have always loved them and the latest pour is shit compared to previous ones… EVEN though this has nothing to do with a discussion based in bearings..
As for tight pants, that wasnt invented you fag to do anything but make men look like women…
Bottom line still remains you havent tried them so dont slate them untill you have… for all you know they are an improvement on anything you have ridden -oh wait you your basing your opinion on a picture so it must be right ahhjahahahahahahahaahahah LOL your are the essence of everything i hate about internet haters

  8. Stefan B. Says:

In this case, supporting a company that is supported by skateboarding gets us nowhere. The money that should be going to the REAL brands (Street Artist, 4×4, Heat, Chimera, Undercover, etc.) to help them improve their products is going elsewhere.
Saying that by supporting Eulogy we’re helping other companies trying to compete and improve is just ludicrous. Thats only hurting the truly skater owned brands more.

At the end of the day bearings are bearings. Granted some lock up from moisture quicker, some roll smoother, but I have yet to see a high quality, SKATING DURABLE bearing made except for anything made by Bones.

When it all comes down to it, props to Hooi for bringing out another skater owned company. If they REALLY have been testing the bearings for that long and the team thinks they’re ace, then they’ve got a good product under their belts.

Instead of hating and talking trash, DO SOMETHING about the things in rollerblading you don’t like. Support something or someone who really loves rollerblading and wants to grow. Otherwise you have no right to talk.

  9. Oskars Says:

    lol… u are idiot!!!

  10. gay Says:

yes tight pants do make men look like women.

as for bearings i don’t notice a difference in misc brand and skate brands. i would however support this company.

  11. balzitch Says:

    my ballz itch.

  12. archer Says:

seriously tough, where do these bearings originally come from?
I am assuming the same bearings used in 99% of skates are made for industrial machinery.

Is there any reason you cant buy bearings directly from the manufacturer, and not through skate companies that act as middle-men?

  13. MARSEL IS THE DOVE Says:

CHECK OUT THE NEW DOVE CLIFTON EDIT “MIGHTY HEALTHY†PEACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://vimeo.com/2334368?pg=embed&sec=2334368

  14. TOM Says:

Ye there is a massive reason you can buy them direct… you wont want to order 1000 sets of 8 so we need middle men to bring us quality product as reasonable prices..

  15. you stupid sheep Says:

“The ABEC scale is a system used throughout the manufacturing industry for rating the manufacturing tolerances of precision bearings, developed by the Annular Bearing Engineering Committee (ABEC) of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA). Bearings are rated using an odd number between 1 and 9. The higher the number, the greater the manufactured precision of the bearing. Bearings manufactured within tighter tolerance ranges provide greater accuracy of shaft rotation and contribute to higher speed capability. However, the ABEC rating does not specify many other critical factors, such as smoothness of the rolling contact surfaces, ball precision, and material quality[1].:”

ABEC RATED BEARINGS ARE NOT MADE FOR SKATING!!! They are made for power tools. The higher the ABEC rating the faster they can spin, PERIOD. This rating does mot include torsional weight applications. There are only about six companies in the world that make bearings, skate companies make the shields and put them on later. Do not be blinded by marketing, not all bearings are created equal.

“wah wah Powell is a skate board brand” fucking sheep, keep following the crowd and don’t bitch when your wheels decore and your bearings can’t be cleaned. Because of you sheep powerslide is going to jack up the prices of skates and we will all suffer. Fucking cunts, grow some balls

  16. brian Says:

“you stupid sheep”…..you are one dull mother fucker. I read your first sentence and was immediately put into a coma….don’t write boring shit like that again. tosser

  17. Ted Says:

6 companies in the world that make bearings???? hahahah u talk some knowledge but with one statement you show how flawed it all is…
Mate if you think only 6 companies in the world supply all the bearings used your a complete fucking retard and you opinion is valid for nothing… do a little research hahahah

Anyway lets get to it.. the packaging is fooooking sick….and if the bearings are good and they dont cost to much whats your problem

  18. G Says:

Brian, how about you shut the fuck up. :)

Heard about these a while ago in Kingdom, nice to see more uk brands coming up.

  19. tupac Says:

trebble puts nothing back into skating. he is a wanker. end of it. dont support his shit, coz he wouldnt support yours!

  20. BIGGIE Says:

Funny to think a sick team would tend to disagree by supporting his shit, oh shit Tupac you must be right, i mean the opinions of some of the best skaters out there mean nothing compared to yours. Support hahaha inernet haters dont have the intelligence to grasp the concept of support.

  21. Relax Says:

Swear BHC sponsor people, advertise in most mags these days, do tours and sponsor events- Swear that is support.

  22. alex(piano) Says:

    éhéh,dla bonne cam ces roulements

  23. Juan from NorCal Says:

Love the presentation! id support if i needed some bearings.

  24. roller Says:

thats so sick ,another irish company ,hope the clothes is nice,im supporting this shit for sure

  25. you stupid sheep Says:

Biggie doesn’t grasp the concept of sponsorship. Do you really think tiger woods liked buick?

  26. nilinds Says:

as long as crap bearings are out there i couldnt care less

  27. SHUT THE SHUKS SUP Says:

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

Another stupid rollerblading company of a gimmick.

-”FIX bearings was founded by Albert Hooi just over a year ago.”
Who cares? It wouldn’t have mattered if Sagona founded it. Or Shima. Or Elliot. Or Stockwell. Skater founding companies doesn’t mean shit to me in terms of quality or leadership.

-”We have been testing bearings for that whole time until we had an ABEC 7 capable of withstanding the needs of our team.”
Woopee. Every other bearing that is Aec-7 can withstand a lot of other skaters’ needs too. Anyway, the Abec rating doesn’t mean shit in the skating world. And more importantly, I (a skater), don’t even use or base my bearing usage decision on any Abec rating. I, instead, skate SKATE RATED and SKATE SPECIFIC bearings. See Crap, Bones, or Rock ‘N Rons to see what a true skate bearing is.

-”We are proud to introduce the first FIX team bearing…. We hope you like them as much as we do..”
Yes, you definitely hope so because you didn’t spend any effort in making your bearings any better than the millions already in the market.Of course you’ll “hope” that we’ll like them. A.K.A like them long enough just to give you our hard earned money for 6 months before you die off like the incompetent faggots that you are.

-”As for the future of Fix bearings, you can expect some quality garments, pro bearings and a fresh website to drop early next year.”
How original, Al Hooi, you lame fuck. How about you make a product more interesting, unique, or high quality? You’ll probably end up releasing the same shitty 1st run bearings and 3 t-shirts for 5 yrs straight. Just like stupid ass 616. Woopee, another weak ass company that will release un-special bearings with 3 shirts on their line forever and ever. And ever.

-”PRO TEAM – ALBERT HOOI, DOM SAGONA, DEMETRIOS GEORGE, NICK LOMAX, FRAZER WATSON & ERIC PERKETT.”
Who cares? Having a million pro riders won’t make your shitty bearings any better. I will stick with even Bones Reds for 10 yrs straight, and even by then I bet you “Fix bearings” wouldn’t and couldn’t have even come up with anything better than their lame little Abec rated garbage.

  28. oh lawdy Says:

@ Sheep: Seriously, I rarely hear that term used outside of discussions about conspiracys…please, stop trolling.

The bearings Looks sick though and it does matter who founded it because if it’s skater owned, the moneys coming back into our industry, which is great and if they do start producing better bearings over the years, it’s money well spent, stop being pissimistic, if people are producing good products it’s better for rollerblading as a whole.

  29. Shutthef-ckup Says:

Mate that message was so long it was a waste of fucking time -no one gives a shit what you think.. go buy skateboard bearings and fuck off.
Its people like you that ensure rollerblading will always remain in the shadow of skateboarding.
As for the bearings you havent even tried them you small minded fuck and you dont even know what they cost thahahah..

LEt s get on to the real part here… Albert Hooi has probably done more for rollerblading than you could ever dream of… so pipe down and shove ur skateboard bearings up your arse.

looks pretty sweet id be happy to support a 100% roler owned brand 35AUD isnt that much, why not? . support roller owned co.s support our sport. more money for us rollers and we ll for sure get to the point where being pro is 100% worth thinking about as well as having passion and love for the sport…

  32. dean Says:

    ill buy em

  33. Andoryuu Says:

I don’t really buy into the whole sense of community in rollerblading. I’m 25 and have myself a job and a g.f and just more important things in life to worry about.
That doesn’t mean, however, that I don’t recognize the importance of a close community and mutual support between skaters to keep the scene not just alive but thriving.
When people come on here with the name sheep and shoot every supporter down for being blinded by lies it saddens me to even consider that person believes what they’re saying is true. When you go to an event and talk to skaters and skate with them and get on with them, you feel part of something special or important. To me, that isn’t brain washing, that’s people coming together and being sociable and positive, there are some dick heads out there that just want to be the best and one-up other skaters or that won’t bother with certain people based on the way they dress but overall it is a positive scene.
I’m not being funny but I would never put my money into skateboarding, I’d by a neutrally owned brand if it was cheaper than a rollerblading owned brand but met the same standards but never would I put my money into skateboarding.
Firstly skateboarding has more than enough money to go round, secondly, I put money into their industry because I’ve been skating for 10 years and I remember when I was a grom and got ripped on for blading and everywhere I turned skateboarders were mocking and belittling inline skating for no apparent reason.
I was around when skateboarding videos came out with an aggressive street dancing section, I was around when Arlo took the challenge of standing up for inline in a skateboard mag and, as honorable as his efforts were, they got to mock us publicly in print. I was around when people would say shit behind my back at parks and when I turned around they always have a skateboard.
Well now I’m older and bigger and the skateboarders still give me looks and have an attitude, the only difference is they don’t say anything but I wonder if the same can be said for the smaller younger skaters out there.

I know this is really long-winded and I never meant it to be but when people come on here and say that the rollerblading community is a facade created by money hungry sly people to exploit the weak-willed then I get more than a little annoyed. I skate with some boarders from time to time who aren’t pricks and we get on nicely but I will never buy skateboard company owned products when there’s a fragile inline community that has survived in the face of adversity for over 15 years that needs every rollerblader to show some kind of support, that doesn’t necessarily mean spending money either, at the very least a positive attitude will do.
If you did manage to read all this just remember that this insight came from a person that isn’t even closely tied into the inline community, I do my own thing more or less and even I can recognize the importance of skater-owned companies, boarders knew this in the 70’s and 80’s and look how strong their industry is today.

Some people care about the state or inline and some don’t. For god sake don’t belittle those who have faith.

  34. henry Says:

tupac, ur gay, you dont know shit

  35. chchtu mae Says:

there is a ecuadorian clothing brand named fix thats been in the market 4 1o years at least ……. funny coincidence

  36. Order Taker Says:

    Shutthef-ckup,

Ahut up you useless fucking ni–er.

  37. Shutthef-ckup Says:

mate not sure if you are aware but that comment made no sense … I got an order for you, learn ENGLISH or don’t even attempt to write anything TOSS PIECE

  38. roussel Says:

i liek thsi concept. im guessing they come with a seringe of oil to keep them rollin for a long time? sweet.

skater owned companies are the life of the sport. please support when and if you can.

  39. hooi Says:

I don’t give a fuck what you think, I’m just trying to survive so I can keep doing what I love to do. I know there isn’t anything new or special about these bearings. There just abec 7’s, fast, solid, durable bearings that, in my opinion, are the best type of bearings for street skating. I’ve only had the privilige of skating bones bearings once. That was when I was a kid and I could barely afford them because they were so expensive. But I decided to splash out and try them anyway. After skating them I thought the speed and smoothness was incredible but they didnt last long enough for the money I paid.

This was one of the reasons we chose this bearing. We are only starting out and would love to have the money to make bones bearings but they are too expensive and I’m in college so I don’t even have a job. We’ve been making wheels and clothes for a while now so we thought it would be a good idea to make bearings for our wheels.

These bearings are just as good as any other bearing that I’ve skated from my other sponsors and there a reasonable price so that kids can afford them. Support us if you want to, don’t complain if you don’t, were just trying to support blading.

  40. flowskate Says:

    props albert.
    and indeed..screw the haters.
likr the brand name and the connotations involved.. clever marketing and if the thread you produce are anything as good as the branding for these bearings your on to a winner.
As for bones bearings and crap ect..there built for skateboarders, i.e not doing huge gaps ect all the time.
    they dont last long.
I murder bearings like slaughter houses murder cattle amd there no different.
why pay 40 quid for something that wont last.
Fair enough if your someone who sticks to the small stuff but that aint for me.

  41. South Bronx Says:

    wonder how those bearings tasted…

  42. Rollervision Says:

respect what you say and where your coming from hooi, good on ya mate;) hope to support you soon and all you rollers think through, speculate why? what reason? and for what purpose this came to happen, the answer is in hooi’s reply, he is investing his time and effort to provide YOU with somthing that we all need, some god dam good bearings that wont warp, wont give up and will give you the value and more that you expect for the price, which as mentioned has been made to be affordable for all, not just for those who work.
