Destroy all girls !

Senate (Arlo Eisenberg as Marketing Director and Mark Heineken as President) produced some t-shirt with a strange sentence in the back of their label : “destroy all girls”, it seems that their marketing strategy caught the attention of the television back in 1996.
xGreenxCloverx of Be-mag posted the video that were broadcasted 10 years ago!
quoting xGreenxCloverx :
In 1996, the legendary rollerblading clothing / wheel / frame / hardware / backpack / everything company -SENATE- devised a genius slogan to help market their products as well as rollerblading in general.
Not only did SENATE ruffle a few feathers with the slogan, but it also got a 2 minute spotlight on prime-time news programs! After the news segment, watch SENATE’s marketing director, Arlo Eisenberg, as he makes ammends…

Maybe because “GIRL” (skateboard-brand) was really popular that time amongst the woodpushers… I don´t really think it was because they wanted to emanzipate themselves from any kind of female-surpression….that would have been a job for no ma´am! hahaha….

haha, genius! i can’t believe they made such a fuzz over the small print on the inside label though, i though it was an actual t-shirt design.
from what i’ve heard they chose that over ’shave your head, kill your parents’ or something along those lines.

Ah yes,… destroy all girls! I still have my first line of SENATE shirts that say it on the tag. I was sad to see them go when the new line came out with the 97 halo and everything. I even crossed my fingers with the 98 kill team line… but nothing. Go things had to come to and end. ENGLAND tried to poke fun at the idea and launched shirts that said DESTROY ALL GRILLZ.

“Destroy all girls”…
“The kill team”…
Is Eisenberg a psychopat? 8oD

I actually remember watching this on the news back in the day and getting all excited about it… When things come up like this, it just reminds me that I’m getting old and I’ve been skating a long time. :) Senate was the best back in the day and Arlo has always been amazing with everything he does… pz.

I am sure it is funny if ur a male.
When the “joke” or whatever it tries to be is not on you.
If you would be female you would not find it funny no matter how good sense of humor you would have.
I am sure if it would say:”DESTROY ALL GUYS”or “DESTROY WHITEPEOPLES”
I dont think everyone would think its funny anymore.

the reason they printed “destroy all girls” was simply to get the parents of the rollerbladers and the media some what involved in the rollerblading scene, and to have Senate as the main focus of the controversy. this brought about free promotional air time for Senate, which would in turn bring about more revenue…..or at least hopes of more revenue.
the reason it was put on the tags of the shirts is because rolling has such a young population, whereby most rollers probably still get their clothes washed by their parents. parents would look to the tag for the washing instructions, only to find a quote that they didn’t agree with, and would make the company even more popular by reporting it to higher authorities and to the media.
this is at least what i got out of it when it happened back in the day. Arlo Eisenberg also was named as one of the top 100 people to watch in the next decade to come, by People’s magazine…………….and i’m sure that this is the ingenious idea that got him this popularity and recognition by People magazine.

Knight I do apriciote ALOT that way you answered to my message.
It is rare to get so polite and adult like + polite answer at rollernews so wanna thank you for that.
I have to admit that it is pretty clever way to get one noticed this way but I still think it can be afensive even if i totally got it fully now why they did it so and it is not mend to come out the hatefull way.
Thanks again for explaining it fully as I sure didn’t got it fully.

Haha, i like the “Harm & Maim her” shirt that looks like the Arm & Hammer logo.
I remember an England tag that said something like “Eat all your veggies, go to bed at 9″ or something like that. Never had one of these shirts. And Senate was raking in 10 million a year back in the day? I had no idea rolling was that huge then.
