Clip 4: Oli Short Intro

One posted the intro of the Clip 4 Oli Short Section:
ONE is big fan of the Clip videos, especially the newest installment, “Clip 4,” so we decided to let everyone else in on just how good it is.
Raising the level of blade video production quality to new heights, Clip is a professional representation of the style, athleticism, and culture that goes along with our sport.
Oli Short grabs the main profile in this edition, and while the section is awesome, the intro itself is amazing.

I hate “look how I have changed” edits. Especially when u turn from being a bit of a wigger to just looking like a dickhead. It was gay when cheshire did it in opinions and it is still gay now.

“plus in clip why dont he just smack that chav guy in the face for being all up in his mates face like that.”
Because then we are no better than them. Leon and Oli showed more maturity and class by not rising to the guy, so he ends up looking like the idiot.
As for the DVD, if you haven’t bought it I suggest you do, it’s amazing.

I agree icon, for one oli used to be baggy and hiphop then suddenly he is and english man from the 1940’s epoch, only thing he needs now is his horse and cart.
I do like his skating but all this bullshit is just one big act, and he makes himself look like a weener. Im English and to me its just a bit daft, he may or may not agree.
But I think Oli knows that all the none English audience will be like wow thats amazing!! and that creates a image fo him and image sells. He doesn’t really seem strong enough to rely on skating alone, he seems to bundle it with all this fancy dancey stuff to keep his place with the pro status.
Im not hating im debating!

smashin, u are so right. Selling the image of oliver twist to the americans really seems to have worked for him.
As fas as I am concerned we need to stop the americans thinking like that. We may as well have all black people stealing cars and smoking weed in their sections just to enforce the stereotype.
I would be horrified to think that outsiders think rollerbladers or indeed english people are like him at all.
March 14th, 2008 at 11:45 am
Hehe that was awesome.. Cant wait to see all of it!

” for one oli used to be baggy and hiphop then suddenly he is and english man from the 1940’s epoch, only thing he needs now is his horse and cart ”

Yeh Oliver twist haha thats a good one icon. Yeh on be-mag there is a pdf of him and it has a photograph of him stood in front of a clapped out white Mercedes transit van haha so ridiculous trying to look like he goes round selling cigarette lighters and stink bombs at the local market stalls. He is rollerbladings biggest actor of the last few years. Cheshire, farmer and oli are the dual personality crew of rollerblading. Although cheshire did seem to grow out of it after a year or two and now he just has a cool east coast style.
People will read this and think oh Smashin is hating Oli short, but im not, ive met oli and he is a nice guy and a good skater Im just not buying in to the image/acting side of his skating.

to icon and smashing (?) when you grow older you change sometimes sometimes alot sometimes not so much but you do change sometimes. Not so much to impress other people but yeh sometimes you play up to things. Oli doesnt wear anything remotley like what people wore in the 1940s its more of a clash between the 60s 80s and now it doesnt really matter though does it people wear what they want to wear. I dont think skating has much to do with that with him maybe he influenced other skaters to wear that stuff but thats it.
March 14th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
Yeh im not saying he shouldn’t or can’ wear what he wants, he does and will always wear what he wants and im glad of that, and yes rollerblading is not about being a fashion show, and thats my point, stop letting fashion do the work for you, let your skating do that.

you guys are idiots? icon and smashin? where do you get off i have no idea. if you’re british you know as well as i do that the current male youth culture in the south (not sure about the north im from brighton personally) is extremely preoccupied with image and fashion? and whats wrong with that? before he was a rollerblader he had a personality and we all change i mean you still wouldnt wear the shit you wore 5 years ago so don’t be a cunt oli seems to hang out with ppl and rollerbladers that are concerned about their look and fashion so his respective people group wouldnt accept UBER baggy pants and a wigga lifestyle? and im sure he’s fine with that if you think about it that wigga lifestyle and dress sense could be percieved as even more fake than what he does now. i mean for a well raised white guy to imitate the lifestyle of some ghetto thug? whats more fake than that?
March 14th, 2008 at 3:09 pm
did you peeps his sexy body!! yummmyyyyyyyyyyyyy
March 14th, 2008 at 3:47 pm
who the fuck cares what hes wearing the reason this was posted was to show you how far ahead and amazing the video production is. Well done to i must say this looks simply amazing. Think im actually going to order that now if its out.
March 14th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
good points raised here.
the editing was amazing + frame shuffles were awsome.
wasnt down with him deciding on what to wear…
+ i think being too involved in the fashion side of things in rollerblading can make anyone lose perspective on style in general (as in skating stylem not mertrosexualism)
im down with his skating, he is shit hot + creative and has a big sack of tricks.
but the whole burlesque/del boy image is odd.
fair dues though, hes individual + kooky and if that works for him so be it
March 14th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
this is what skate DVDs should look like.oli short is a fucken legend, no matter what he wears.

Song was “Queen Bitch” by none other than David Bowie. That song went perfect with the intro. And that purple button down he was about to walk out his door with was fucking hilarious!!!!
March 15th, 2008 at 3:04 am
man everyone goes on about how he looks so much it’s well funny
he’s a sick rollerblader that’s all that matters
March 15th, 2008 at 4:57 am
Well I don’t know about where Oli is in his life, I don’t know about his beliefs or anything but I can say this. When he was on Razor and was baggy, I truly liked his skating much better. I think that he as a rider has much potential but it seems to me that he’s going the direction of Latimer after he joined Xsjado. No more tech, no more old school but some type of new age neo soul roll.
I actually haven’t seen this video clip yet but I’ve seen the one that was posted like not even three days ago, I’ve seen a lot of Oli and it’s just such a 180 turn for who he use to be to who he portrays himself as today.
March 15th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
food for thought: there aren’t many people that can look beyond their own and realise maybe it’s not always about selling something to other skaters, sure it might be playing on a cliche in some respects, but eventually it is the people who stand out that little bit that will attract a wider range of people to the sport (ie companies, new skaters etc), and show them how varied it can be. just something to consider.
