Shah Alam Extreme Park

from skatemalaysia.com :

I think this is the best skate park ever build in Malaysia next to Kg Batu and Mont Kiara. I mean this is the best ever. Skatemalaysia crew went for a peek today and we thought we were in United States. Very well professional kind of skatepark.

The size of the park is slightly smaller than the concreate park space in Kg Batu but the item here are much more better yet with full of place to skate. They have stair steps, lots of banks and hips, bowl, pool with many different shapes and sizes (some with coping and some are not), funbox, rails, handrails, flatbar rails, curbs, curve ledge, and many more. Legitimization of Street Skating in Tacoma, WA

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

removing skatestoppers

On Tuesday, July 26 of 2005, Skaters for Public Skateparks removed 187 Skatestoppers from a city park in Tacoma, Washington…legally.

The police arrived, hands on guns, ordering SPS members to drop tools and lay on the ground. They were shown the letter of permission from the city, and they left without another word.

In essence, this modest success spells the beginning of street skating legitimization. Sure, it’s just one park in Tacoma, but SPS members are working on doing the same in other cities.

Read more about Tacoma, and learn about how you can repeat this experience in your hometown.

Peter Kogler Paris Skatepark

I was in Paris this week and i got the chance to take some photos of the Peter Kogler Paris Skatepark (i allready posted a french article scan about it here).

This piece of art is located in Paris 13, just search for the ‘Square Robert Bajac’, you can take the metro, it’s near the ‘Porte d’Italie’ Stop.

The Peter Kogler Skatepark is not really a skatepark because it only got this worldmap bowl, but the work of Peter Kogler is really original, and i found the idea really great. The place will be opened to skaters mid January 2007.

Here is the official text that was featured on the park front door :

Sprayed concrete on wire mesh, gray paint. Dish diameter 6m ; acceleration path diameter : 16m.

With this hollowed out fragment of a globe, Peter kogler offers us an inverted vision of the world at the same time as a welcoming surface devoted to skateboards and and rollerblades.
