Solo-sohigh charity tour: 1 month, 25 Countries

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to inform you of the Solo-Sohigh skating for cancer tour, a unique event that I am participating in, and is very important to me.

The tour will last from 1st of Sept til 1st of oct., visiting 25 countries, 32 cities`s skateparks within 31 days, sessioning at every stops with local skaters.

See the attached flyer for tour dates and location/venues.

The goal of this remarkable journey is to spread the idea of inline skating, pair our love of this sport with activity of helping raise money for cancer research.

I’m hoping that my project might be of interest to you as an opportunity to promote your products and company through a sponsorship arrangement. I have never felt comfortable asking for anything, however, this cause is very important to me.

Solo Sohigh tour is a non profit fundraising event, your support would help making a positive difference in the lives of those coping with cancer. Any profit realised will be directed in full to The Christy charity which is the second largest hospital charity in the country. The Christy is international leader in research and one of Europe`s leading cancer treatment centres.

As part of the tour I will be meeting with a variety of people each and every day, im making sure only travelling solo but going to have fun with many peoplel while skating. Displaying your company name might attract the attention of even more.

Your company logo would be placed (If required) on the website, flyer, and on my very own suitcase I`m venturing around Europe with, so you can join me on this bold journey.
I will be documenting my trip in journals, photos, video, and look forward to sharing my experiences and observations.

I acknowledge you for reading my words. Please help me in this worth while cause by contributing whatever you can.

Your encouragement and interest would go a long way towards keeping me motivated.

I also encourage you to share this letter with other people who may want to lend their support as well.

For any questions regarding the fundraising aspect in particular or anything else regarding the event, please email.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Melinda Szalkai.

Revival: Episode 62 – Intermittent as never

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

rolling revival

We started the show off by adding a new news category. The rumors section of the show featured some interesting happenings in the world of rollerblading. No reason to stick to strictly published news when we can pretty much do or say as we please. Our legitimacy is slightly questionable anyway.

That led us into a crazy debate about Casualty pulling a Franco Shade. Whatever that means!? Lot’s of awesome hardware news which is a treat and a rarity. And of course our signature internet news and video edit highlights.

As if that weren’t enough, we also fill you in on all of this months events happening around the U.S.

Rollerblade Faggots By Mike Vallely (Circa May 1996)

Rollerblade Faggots

“Rollerblade Faggots.” Okay, now that I have your attention… It’s high time for skateboarders and the skateboard industry to really come to terms in a sense with inline skating. I’ve seen and heard enough ignorant stupidity over the last five or six months, fists and pens of certain skateboarders and industry types that I feel it’s time that someone with a functioning brain and a sense of reality speak up and clue some people in… Oh damn, that would have to be me again.

(I can relate everything that happens in the present time, it seems, with something that happened to me in my hometown growing up skating. I have done it again, so please bear with me.)

When I started skating in ‘84, there were certain adversities that came along with the territory of just being a skateboarder. I always felt these “adversities” only added to the experience and helped make it more real and meaningful, and truly gave purpose and sense to what I was doing. I was thankful to be a skateboarder in the face of my hometown and, beyond that, in the face of the world. [...]

X-Mini (Capsule Speaker): Facebook & Twitter Giveaway

X-Mini (Capsule Speaker)

What are X-mini Capsule Speakers ?

That MP3 player you got for Christmas is awesome, but when you hit the play button, nothing comes out. Why? It doesn’t have a speaker, that’s why! Manufacturers cram so much into those tiny gadgets, any speaker that would fit in there would, frankly, sound like crap.

Our simian sound scientists are smart monkeys. They figured out a way to create rich deep bass in a speaker no bigger than a hens egg! When we asked them how it’s done, they just glared at us with those dark great-ape eyes and told us it was one of those trade-secret things. Weird.

The sound is incredible! Rich and loud and strong, this little speaker surprises everyone with how big it sounds. It’s portable and rechargeable via USB, so you can take it anywhere you might need a big boost of sound.

Just pop open the capsule and extend the speaker – this opens the resonance chamber, increasing the bass response even higher. Plus, at a full-charge, it can run for nearly 8 hours! It’s electric awesome in the palm of your hand.

Facebook & Twitter Giveaway
Each week (for 4 weeks) X-Mini, will offer 2 X-mini II and 2 X-mini MAX II.

Support Blading @ Olympus – Your Story

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

Olympus - Your Story

quoting Photographyreview.com:

Olympus announced the “PEN Your Story Challenge” that asks contestants, “What you would do if you had the amazing new Olympus PEN E-PL1 portable camera featuring professional digital single lens reflex (DSLR) image quality, point-and-shoot simplicity and high-definition (HD) video, along with $5,000 to bring your creative vision to life?”

Contestants can submit a video proposal of their “vision”, which is anything that you could produce with the Olympus PEN E-PL1 and a $5,000 budget. For example, if your dream is to direct a short film with HD video, produce a fashion spread of pro-quality still images, or chronicle an adventure or to create an amazing photomontage.

20 semi-finalists will be selected by community voting and then narrowed down to 6 by a panel of judges from Olympus and the YouTube community. The 6 finalists will receive the Olympus PEN E-PL1 and $5,000 to bring their proposals to life. One Grand Prize winner will be selected from those 6 and will receive an all-expense-paid trip for two to New York City to attend the Olympus-sponsored US Open National Championships where the winner’s work will be displayed on the giant video board at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center before an audience of thousands.

quoting Kevin Dowling:

Please press LIKE right away on this video. I am trying to get some attention for blading on a large scale. We only have until Sunday the 6th to get as many likes as possible. Please repost this to your facebooks, blogs and messageboards right away! I will be using the money to directly support blading culture.

Oli Benet: Stimorol Shift Ad in Switzerland

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Check this printed Stimorol Shift Ad (via).

The concept is simple. The skater’s colours change to match with the flavour of the gum as he skates around the city, in and out of traffic, down rails and gaps.

Note the different skates on each foot, red = street setup ; blue = ice skating setup.

oli benet

Can’t wait to see the final video too. Feel Free to post photos if you see the ad near you ;)
