Cameron Card : RN Interview + Clips

Ok…what can i write to introduce Cameron Card…well, i think everybody has heard of him and since that disaster royal for be-mags under wraps everybody knows how sick this guy can skate. Don’t miss some clips of Cameron skating at the end of the interview !
El Julio: First at all the basics. Your full name, age, etc..
Killa Cam: Cameron Trent Card, 24 years old, American Fork, Utah 10 years skating.
El Julio: Ok you nearly answered the second question but anyway
Killa Cam: haha
El Julio: When and why did you started skating?
Killa Cam: I started May of ‘97 because I was playing ice hockey at the time and noticed in the off season some kids that I played with were rolling around on what looked like hockey skates but with wheels.
El Julio: Tell us more about your project evoL.
Killa Cam: EvoL is a movie Hayden Eatchel and I are doing, that started out like “hey we should make a movie!”
El Julio: haha good concept
Killa Cam: We’ve always made edits and filmed but never really did anything big with the footage and we though we could make a good clean flick for people to watch…hoping to get a bunch of Salt Lake City kids exposure while having some of our friends we’ve met outside Utah in it as well. At first, we only thought a few outsiders would be down with it, but we’ve been overwhelmed with how many people are willing to help with the video. Making this project bigger and a lot better then we ever could have imagined.
El Julio: What is more important for yourself, skating or editing?
Killa Cam: I really don’t put one over the other
El Julio: Ok…and how is your snowboard career going on?
Killa Cam: I wouldn’t call it a career.. more of just a hobby. I’m still paying for stuff so until that changes we’ll keep it as a hobby. haha
El Julio: Could you beat broskow in skateboarding mini?
Killa Cam: Yeah I think I got him…but he’s got me on flatland!
El Julio: haha
El Julio: Ok back to the real questions.
El Julio: Who do you skate with, and who inspires you?
Killa Cam: I skate a lot with my good friends from here Tory Treseder, Hayden Eatchel, Carl Hills, George Veasy, Khai Krepella, Jeff (frodo) Stanger, Dan Dickerson, Brandon and Anthony Christensen. The people that inspire me are the kids going out and progressing and learning every time they skate, and all my friends.
El Julio: Take the ring frodo.
Killa Cam: hahaha
El Julio: Do you have any idols?
Killa Cam: Ever since Elements 2 I’ve loved Dominic Sagona’s style and it’s only gotten better as the years go on, also Tory Treseder because of how he carries him self and his solid stylish skating, he’s a very good person as well.
El Julio: How does a normal Cameron Card day look like?
Killa Cam: Well I’ll wake up around 9-10am check my email, myspace, and rollerblade news, make some breakfast, usually hash-browns and eggs, help around the house and then call some friends and get a blade session going, come home watch some tv shows, capture footage, edit then fall asleep to a good movie.
El Julio: Sounds relaxed haha…uhm
Killa Cam: haha for sure
El Julio: What was your best, and what was your worst experience in rolling?
Killa Cam: I have a bunch of “best” rolling experiences. I’ll just name a few, when I won X-trials and 10,000 dollars in Grand Pari, Texas, when I went to Europe to skate, and when I landed the disaster backside royal in under wraps. The worst would have to be tearing a nerve in my lower back and being bed ridden for a month strait and then not being able to skate fully for 2 months after starting to walk.
El Julio: And now a big question, why the change from USD to Valo?
Killa Cam: I rode and supported USD for a very very long time and felt I didn’t get the respect or support that I gave to them back, Scott Walker and Big Dan are awesome and have always been there for me but I’m not going to support Powerslide and how they treat me and other riders. I’d rather be flow for a company I believe in then ride “pro” for a company I disagree with. I really like what Valo and Empire are doing, so I’ll be loyal to them unless proven otherwise.
El Julio: Lets talk a bit more about your skating. How do you handle your fear, if you have some, when you do really hard tricks?
Killa Cam: Fear is part of rollerblading, you need to learn how to turn the fear into adrenaline by pushing the fear thoughts into the back of your head and focusing. I use to talk about food before a scary trick to take my mind off being scared haha, but now I’ve learned to just clear my head.
El Julio: haha…talk about food?
Killa Cam: hahah yeah…
El Julio: well never mind
El Julio: Now some questions from the Rollernews Users.
jordansmith: When you wake up in the morning whats usually the first thing that goes through your head?
Killa Cam: hmm… haha
El Julio: haha
Killa Cam: Well I guess the first thing that goes through my head when I wake up is what I’m going to eat and do today.. haha
El Julio: haha ok
jordansmith: If u could have dinner with anyone dead or alive who would it be?
Killa Cam: It would have to be…. rilo kiley.
Killa Cam: Well jenny lewis is her name.
hyped: How long does a pair of skates last you?
Killa Cam: 3 months at the most.
Clayboy2: Where was your best session?
Killa Cam: haha I couldn’t answer that…
El Julio: haha ok
Killa Cam: But one of my favorite places to skate was Barcelona.
rolla05: How do you want to be remembered in rolling?
Killa Cam: I just want to be remembered as a nice guy who loved to rollerblade.
armageddon: What is your favorite thing in rolling?
Killa Cam: haha this one is hard.
El Julio: haha for sure.
Killa Cam: I can’t answer this one.
El Julio: Everything?
Killa Cam: yeah pretty much.
El Julio: haha alright
CoreyMcCumber: Well, first and most importantly, what is your favorite thing about me? Second, what has been the biggest challenge making evoL? Besides getting Hayden to drive some where…
Killa Cam: You are my favorite thing corey! Biggest challenge would have to be getting kicked out of spots and not getting anything done.
El Julio: Ok, if you could give away only one thank you, who would get it?
Killa Cam: My mom.
El Julio: Ok you get some more.
Killa Cam: Thank you’s?
El Julio: haha yea
El Julio: You can thank some more people.
Killa Cam: haha
Killa Cam: umm…thank you! Everyone else knows…ABLE, HEAT, VALO!!
El Julio: Alright thank you for the interview.
thanks to Cameron Card and Brandon Smith

You should have said Jenny Lewis or Jesus. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have dinner with the nicest guy of all time? But then again, Jenny Lewis is the hottest thing since kaian pepper! Toss a quarter on that one bud. Make sure you play the role of, “oh… your in a band? that’s cool… what do you play little coffee shops and stuff like that? how adorable!” haha, reel her in that way partner.

Nice interview… I am glad to see the Utah rollers getting exposure. There are some mad skaters there that deserve the opportunity to show the world what they have to offer! cant wait for evol to come out!
