In Escondido, Philadelphia and Zurich, everyone calls Brian Aragon “the Prince.”
His silky moves and seemingly effortless style have earned him that moniker in the world of competitive in-line skating, and he doesn’t mind one bit. Things could be worse: They call his friend Mike Johnson “Murda,” and Dre Powell is “The Dazed Owl.”

Informative article, though Ken Papaleos picture is horrible and reminiscent of mid 90’s ASA pictures that were always
getting the worst photos imaginable out to the world. To any outside onlookers that photo looks like he’s 180ing
a curb or something and does nothing to show where Rolling is really at today. Sad, but typical.

Very cool article. Defenitely the best. Im 27 and a half, and still skating strong. Been doing it for 12 years, and my body is still in tiptop condition. I dont see why WE AS ROLLERS, cant skate when we’re in our 40’s. I Surf as well, and am in the water with dudes who are in their 60’s. Anything is possible. Keep rolling 4eva!

No one should be hating on this article. It is what it is. It is for public consumption. I actually think he added a lot of our vocabulary and explained it well. You all have to remember that this is being read by the general public. I think it was well done. I am a 26 year old who has been skating for 12 years. You younger bucks should try and look at this as a good thing.

I thought that article was pretty good, especially for what seems to be a local paper that has no connection to rollerblading. At least it was something positive for rolling and was done in a way that everyone, not just rollerbladers would appreciate.

I knew this article would be something that people would either hate or love. But when they contacted me and asked me if I would do an article I thought it would be a great way for the public to have a better grasp of what rollerblading is really like. I agree it’s not written how most of us are accustomed to reading about rollerblading but it is a hard thing explaining skating to a 40+ newspaper writer who has never known anything about rollerblading. It made me proud to have that article in the paper and I hope it gave at least a few of the young rollers in Denver a sense of pride and I hope they are realize that skating is something that is cool and be proud of being involved in something so unique! Thanks for the love I appreciate it, respect!
