Anon, did you mean this MB? http://vimeo.com/19225484#
Hopefully Nils will defend title this year. Again, it’s autumn in Latvia and it’s really shitty weather all the time to film good footage. I hope his brother have some unused killer clips from this summer.

Hahahaha, take it easy sunshine.
October 17th, 2012 at 8:33 am
The Defise competition right now has prize money of 8000$.
October 17th, 2012 at 8:34 am
Btw, I honestly can’t see why people would want to compete in the WRS with the same Cali-judges that put together ruin every comp.
October 17th, 2012 at 8:38 am
wrs was a load of balls sick edits, but nils deserved the win, aragons shouldnt of been anywhere same old boring aragon tricks, spin onto this spin over that. nils edit was hammer time.
October 17th, 2012 at 10:54 am
pfft those prizes are a joke, who would break themselves off for less than a weeks wage?!?!
October 17th, 2012 at 10:57 am
WRS uploaded sucks… lauching the contest when it’s raining everyday in most of the Europe… Judges are corrupted…
October 17th, 2012 at 11:10 am
defise contest is 6000euros shared between blading, skateboarding and biking, and FISE give always more to bikers. The prices for bladers will be lower than the 2000 dollars at wrs
October 17th, 2012 at 12:57 pm
Oh yay more Europe/US hate.
October 17th, 2012 at 1:34 pm
Note that to enter the DeFISE, you don’t need to be in the top 25 WRS.
October 17th, 2012 at 3:04 pm
what if no one sends in their videos? Does it still get 5 stars if only Bailey, Broskow, Haffey and Stockwell enter? Because the NYC Invite had a shitload of pros, $5000+ prize money and that only got 3 stars.
WRS sanctioned contests are assigned Stars (between 1 and 5 Stars) based on the following criteria:
1 star: big local / small national contest
2 star: major national contest with a some international presence
3 star: half+ international/pro riders in advanced category, US$2500+ cash prize money in advanced category, substantial coverage
4 star: international event with US$5000+ in cash prize money in advanced/pro category, substantial coverage & quality video edit
5 star: Pro Tour
just based on prize money this shouldn’t be worth more than 2 stars, and I don’t see it listed as part of the Pro Tour on the WRS website.
They should have a rule that you have to post 5 stars comps at the beginning of the year, and no changes based on who wins, like when they made the NYC Invite 5 stars in its first year just because Broski won.
Hell, if they don’t get at least “some international presence” it can only be a 1 star. =D
October 17th, 2012 at 3:17 pm
Good stuff! Hopefully the edits are hella dope and we’ll reach millions of views!
Some pre-roll advertisement in front of each video and all the skaters get some €’s……good stuff not?
October 17th, 2012 at 6:15 pm
i was really hoping that they were gunna have an actual wrs finals competition this year. but they’re doing this video contest shit again. it seems theres less and less comps every year. anybody else notice this?
October 17th, 2012 at 8:02 pm
I dont get these online video edit contest for the World Rolling Series. I flat out think its stupid. I didn’t like it at all last year. I will not like it this year. Here’s my beef:
1. ITS THE FREAKING FINALS. The guy whos able to perform the best in person {no video edits} should win the contest. No whining and complaining. Either put out or get out.
1.A. This is the response about location. It should be held at revolving locations around the world. Pre-pick the location a year in advance with two to three substitutes due unforeseeably events; allowing ample time for travel arrangement and saving.
1.B. Money this, Money there. Traveling anywhere cost money. Sponsors and Bladers need to learn how to save to make it the finals.
1.C. As for the purse, or payout, The more people who attend and more money sponsor put up should make the purse grow.
2. Judges and voters. Really, this is isn’t an American idol. There needs to be a pool of blader ambassadors from all corners of world who could be call upon to judge the event. I don’t believe an all or majority american judge board is remotely fair.
3. Video edit. Two parts.
A. Its an video edit of who knows how many trys. A good camera, great camera man, and video editor. If this is the championship round of the tour IT SHOULD ONLY BE THE BLADER AND THE COURSE! Those last last three components have no bearings for judging.
B. Now wait a minute, If these video edit are meant to push and attain an higher level of content for non balder community view, This should purely be an supplement and then for voter based only. No Judge panel.
C. We had the same blader edit to every round last year. LOL I have non seen a blader do the same line after advancing to the next round.

^^ WE X GAMES NOW
October 17th, 2012 at 9:55 pm
this is was rollerblading has boiled down too. a finals competition of online edits. sad to see this sad state of affairs when the level of blading is at an all time high. Julio did right with the blading cup by securing a fox sports slot, but why can’t the entire industry get it together?
October 17th, 2012 at 11:30 pm
WRS is a joke. It’s designed to keep young stupid American rollerbladers idolizing old washed up American pros so they spend their money in the U.S.
WRS is afraid to hold a real comp because they know skaters like CJ, Roman, Nils, Julian and Socahiro will dominate.
October 17th, 2012 at 11:37 pm
fuck wrs i know who is strongest this year : Jon Bolino , Joey Chase , CJ Welsmore , Nils Jansons ! Thank you !
October 18th, 2012 at 12:26 am
For the price of 500$? Or for the the prize of 500$?The first insinuating that he bought the contest, perhaps via bribes or what not. Or perhaps he paid someone 500 to make the edit. If this is the case they should up the prize money so it doesn’t all go into covering the cost of purchasing the contest.
October 18th, 2012 at 1:30 am
fuck the wrs shit is rigged and u niggas no this
October 18th, 2012 at 4:05 am
this online comp is bullshit!
October 18th, 2012 at 5:29 am
I don’t think this WRS Uploaded thing is very cool. Seems like a waste of time to me.
October 18th, 2012 at 9:16 am
I really don’t how anybody could complain about this. It’s a contest featuring edits by the top pros and my recollection of last years edits is that they were all pretty badass regardless of who won and for what reasons. People bitch because they don’t see enough online content from the top pros – now there’s a contest for online edits and people still complain. It’s not the WRS or this contest that’s wrong with rollerblading…it’s all the fucking haters spewing shit on everything that anyone ever tries to do for the good of the sport.
On the other hand – I agree I don’t think an online contest should replace a ‘traditional’ contest as the finals but I can see that financially and logistically that it might not be possible for all companies to fly their riders all around the world for contests that people mostly talk shit on anyway.
My approach on this is just to sit back, not complain, enjoy the edits and vote for my favourite. I’m grateful that there is at least an online contest rather than nothing at all and in my opinion so should every rollerblader!!!
October 18th, 2012 at 12:57 pm
WRS, what a joke with another year of edits for the finals. ^ as for sitting back and taking it I won’t be that guy. Nor should any blader. As for words financially and logistically sound like quitting words; Quitters never lose right, so why even try.
October 18th, 2012 at 3:03 pm
I agree the WRS is a joke. Just look at what Haffey had to do this year to get his ranking (I love Haffey btw, but that’s not the point):
2012
- 2nd place at Blading Cup (Park) – 5 star event
- 5th place at Bitter Cold Showdown Pro (Park) – 5 star event
2011
- 4th place at World Finals: Uploaded (Street) – 5 star event
- 1st place at AIL Amateur World Finals (Park) – 3 star event
Now look at Roman Abrate
2012
- 1st place at Raiffeisen Lausanne Street&Bowl Contest (Park) – 3 star event
- 1st place at Fardamatti Invitational (Park) – 2 star event
- 1st place at Ghetto Games festival in Ventspils (Park) – 2 star event
- 1st place at West Coast Clash (Park) – 1 star event
- 2nd place at Pro Bowl Contest (Park) – 3 star event
- 1st place at FASU (Park) – 2 star event
- 5th place at Fise Pro (Park) – 5 star event
- 1st place at West Coast Contest (Park) – 1 star event
- 1st place at Gladiator Contest: New clash edition (Park) – 2 star event
- 3rd place at Winterclash Pro (Park) – 5 star event
WHO’S REALLY PUTTING IN WORK? American skaters go to 4 comps a year, the ones in America where they know their skaters will get advanced no matter what (BLADiNG CUP!!,Bitter Cold, WRS Uploaded, etc), and where they will get maximum points. Other skaters win 10 times as many comps but don’t get enough points from 1 or 2 star events. But think of what an impact Roman has on rollerblading by showing up to 15 events a year instead of the bare minimum of 4. I don’t think most people appreciate that kind of dedication, especially when American pros complain every time they have to skate ANY comp, even ones that have been rigged in their favor. AND Roman had time to film one of the most hammer-intense sections of Game Theory. THAT is a true pro IMHO.
And before you say other dudes make more videos, sorry, I don’t buy my way into
October 18th, 2012 at 3:31 pm
^any sport, and I don’t support people who put their own brand above rollerblading as a whole. Apparently, this whole WRS thing is what happens when biased people get to run the sport.
Just think about it this way: since the beginning of WRS, the only people to have been #1 in the world have been Aragon, Haffey, and Broskow. Isn’t it coincidental that these are the top skaters for the 3 brands behind the WRS? If that doesn’t tell you something right there, you are truly blind.
October 18th, 2012 at 6:35 pm
WRS should be renamed ARS (American Rolling Series) and any organization that doesn’t have a REAL COMP each year to determine the best in the sport shouldnt be taken seriously.
Rollerblading needs to hold a World Championship Event every year in a big skatepark, and possibly some legit street spots, to determine a true champion, with unbiased judges who do not work for skating companies, or who are best friends with the competitors. The event should attract the best skaters in the world, and the entire rollerblading community as spectators, and televised so the masses can see how exciting our sport is.
Wheteher a guy lives in France, the streets of NYC or a small town in Australia they should be judged fairly and have an opportunity to win.
This WRS edit bull shit is just another way for American skate companies to ensure their merican pros win.
October 19th, 2012 at 1:14 am
WRS hould be renamed ARS (American Rolling Series). It dies not fairly judge the best skaters in the world, only American skaters who ride for Remz, Razors and Valo.
Basing a World Championship on edits is an insult to the sport. There needs to be a big comp at a large skatpark and possibly some legit street spots, with unbiased judges. The Top 25 skaters from around the world should compete, and all have an equal chance to win.
October 19th, 2012 at 1:15 am
Maybe compete on a p-rail so Broskow can win?
October 19th, 2012 at 4:04 am
I agree with above^^^^
October 19th, 2012 at 9:03 pm
that’s weak. they should do a real contest fuck this uploaded bullshit y’all are some slackers.
and it’s raining in a lot of the us too, euro dudes quit whinin like some bitches.
October 22nd, 2012 at 1:47 am
so the world champion of rollerblading is determined by an edit voted on by a panel of his friends? excuse me while I laugh my fucking ass off
