Boot manufacturers unite to create the W.R.S.: WORLD ROLLING SERIES

Jan15, 2009.

In an effort to increase worldwide growth and recognition of the rolling industry, the main manufacturers (Deshi, Nimh, Razors, Remedyz, Rollerblade, USD, Valo, Xsjado) announce the launch of the WRS, World Rolling Series.

Goals:

  • to combine the major skate contest around the world (Bittercold ShowDown, BarnBurner, Chaz Open, SDSF Open, SuperHick, WinterClash, etc..) to a world series with a final world championship event.
  • to work with event organizers around the world and create national championships.
  • to give riders from all over the world the opportunity to get noticed and achieve worldwide recognition.
  • to introduce a world ranking list.
  • to streamline Pro / Am contests and create a unified contest format.
  • to attract outside media and create awareness of the sport in the broad public.
  • to hire a sports marketing agency and bring in outside sponsors.

Detailed information to follow.

quoting Jon Julio (Valo Brand/Themgoods):

All boot manufacturers working together to establish a true Pro/Am (International) Contest series .

This is clearly a huge step in the right direction for Rollerblading.

quoting Tom Hyser (Rollerblade):

A skater driven contest series that promotes our unique rolling culture.

quoting Andy Wegener (Razors):

A meaningful worldwide series like this gives us manufacturers the opportunity to find out about talented riders from all over the world.

quoting Oli Benet (The Conference):

After years with little unified direction it now seems that everyone at last is getting together to create a strengthening body where rollerbladers once again have something to aim for, whether they have been skating for years or for just days. Direction! At last!!

quoting Brian Shima (Nimh/Rat Tail):

There is no way that an upcoming athlete in any other sport could show up and compete against the pro’s.

It is time to define professionalism in rolling.

quoting Kato Mateu (Remedyz):

All boot manufacturers collaborating to make rolling grow stronger… This is next level.

  1. Jordan Says:

This sounds like some of the best news that are sport has ever had! I think it gives a great opportunity for both upcomming rollerbladers and established pro’s to gain the recognition they deserve!

  2. TpA Says:

Word! Word! Word! Word! Word! Word! Word! Word! Word!

  3. pom Says:

this was inevitable. our foundations will be unified and stronger than ever.
    i voice my support,hellmuthafucknyeah!

  4. K-rismatics Says:

    yes we can!!

  5. RASTA Says:

when rollerblading is gaining popularity and gets bigger and bigger, also the authorities will be focusing more on preventing street vandalism such as street skating!! believe me 5 years ago people weren’t so persuasive kicking us out of spots, now people are used to skating and not really suprised by the tricks or things we do so they just see us as street rascals who are invading their territory!

  6. RASTA Says:

but other than that, it’s a great thing to see rollerblading finally grow something substantially and more money for professional skaters to earn finally! They always busting their asses and walking around with hurt limps… hopefully they can make a living out of it instead of having ten jobs at the side… that’s not the way a pro rollerblader should be treated!

  7. Fray Says:

Assuming no dumb moves are made this should help the poorest, most extreme of wheeled sports – lets hope that we can get into mainstream media from a move like this to get money into our dieing world!

  8. RASTA Says:

    rollerblading never dies

  9. cody Says:

    thaaats a huge step!
i am pretty excited to see how everything will work!
hopefully it will be done damn good!

  10. .Fx Says:

I have got only one word: FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. Andoryuu Says:

mmm… I am a natural skeptic so something is always going to not quite sit right with me. It sounds good more money for pro riders and I guess better global awareness means more kiddies buying skates and more money for everyone, I just hope this isn’t another one of those situations where non-rollerblading owned companies decide this isn’t profitable enough a sport and pull the plug on an entire team of pro’s, the products and the events the support and set skating back by another 5 years.

  12. kipper Says:

this is what rollerblading as a whole needs.
i rarely skate anymore as rollerblading died (again) a few years back.
    but this, this is awesome.

more money for pros and ams, getting ourselves established as a legitimate sport.
    skateboarding is legit
    bmxing is legit
rolling is still just the youngbuck. but that looks like it might change

    i say, fuck yeah!

  13. weepete Says:

best idea EVER its gonna bring so much attention to the sport!

  14. Spen Says:

Outside sponsors is the key! Red bull, gatorade, COCA COLA etc etc, if they see it as a good thing to attach to their brand this will bring in the big competition prizes and sponsorship fees for the people who deserve it!

“Hi my name is Chris Haffey and this is MTV Cribs” haha.

  15. Kwan Says:

lol, Spen… i hope we can live to see the day a pro inline skater has a spot on cribs.

i can’t wait to watch this all happen!

  16. peterolls Says:

    FFvvvvvvvv<<<<<<kkkkkkk YEA!!!

thank you guys. make it happen.

  17. Jo Says:

that’s what I missed in rolling over the last years…good step…I can’t wait to see what’s coming out of that great idea…

  18. tex Says:

well, i think everybody got these inside but nobody could do anything to set up these goals. im so happy to see that the companies and pros are really grown up to thinkin in bigger and different. the major problem in our sport was that it almost only about having F.U.N.(i mean nowdays) But they are realised that rolling needs outer support, sponsors, they need new people. it used to be the same that will be but the developing stopped after the major companys get the advantages and the money. nowdays with internet everybody can put up things and call himself a pro…this is the problem.the scene is neated. we need selections, we need changes and we need chances to build up a real rolling community like other sports does. it always depends on the companys and sponsors. we must show the world AGAIN what rolling is about and show that not only snow, skateboard, bmx and motocross n things like this exists. when xgames cancelled rollerblading was the worst thing could happen. we must break into media again like the oldschool did. thats why they were and are so succesful and respected. its time companys thought. in this year rollerblading get the revenge against shitty people who thinks its just a flippant “sport”.
im not hating or anything. its just an opinion.
we need to get back to the roots somehow and work out how can we support our sport. the companies need all pros to do that, and they need our feedback about it i think. lets work together.
    peace

  19. this guy Says:

As long as they keep the shays, shays cronies and big companies that have nothing to do with our sport (LG) out, every thing may work out. Then again, many of the guys behind this support or have supported the ASA. If we get put back into timed runs it will be the death of our sport.

  20. this guy Says:

“to hire a sports marketing agency and bring in outside sponsors.”

This part scares me. The ASA falls into this area. They failed twice, we can’t let them back in again.

  21. Malik Says:

remember how everybody cried when they announced the new PRO / amateur system? http://www.rollernews.com/winterclash-newsletter-1_5902.html

finally you guys realise that this is a needed step!! Even if some people now need to compete at amateur instead of pro….

  22. Paulizzle Says:

Rollerblading is far from barely dead ahah

  23. x-eriont Says:

    wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  24. :No-Frost: Says:

In my country the only REAL skatepark is in the north of it (I live in Chile in SouthAmerica)…

In the capital (Santiago) there is only one little attempt of skatepark, and a few tryies of some things that you might call it a skatepark… Thats because the popularity of the sports (Skate, Skateboarding, BMX, and others alike) is low… Here we are considered as vandals “destroying” everything, so they kick us out of almost every spot we had (there are no much spots to skate)…

With this event the sport will get a lot of attention and of course will get a lot of support from people as they will see that is not just a kid sport or vandals sport… Damn, people even think that this is no sport at all… I hope this goal be achieved as soon as possible so every skater can had a chance…

Best news ever since I’ve start skating (about 10 years ago if I don’t count the time I left the sport in pause because I couldn’t buy new skates for almost 7 years =( =( =( )….

    WAY TO GO!!!

    LIVE TO ROLL…ROLL TO LIVE!!!!!!!

  25. bassti Says:

i think its funny how this is now liked here by everyone but when the new winterclash system was announced(which is a huge part of this whole movement) everybody hated so much…
anyway this si the way to go!!!!

  26. romas Says:

    fuck ideas like that…:(

  27. scott Says:

    Amazing ! everyone will support

  28. romas Says:

you will see in near future how big mistake are you going to do this ,,sport”…:(…..

Are you really want to finnaly make that companies like adidas, nike etc. will sponor and promote this sport..? are you reaaly want this….nexy you probably see skates made by companies like that….are you really want this?
    please think about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This not next level….it’s gonna be next commercial sport……

    DON”T DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  29. RobF Says:

    god I love rollerblading.

  30. jujuju Says:

ok… to the one who said ” i cant wait to see haffey on MTV cribs”.. are you serious??
you want cocacola (fukin corrupt company) and others invading the purity of our “sport”?
i like the initiative, i like the strenght, but i can see that we will be contaminated by people and companies that will make us ordinary, just one more of those “xtreme” sports, greedy, fashionable, trendy.
for me rollerblading is NOT trendy, i skate with my people and don’t give a shit about what i’m wearing, about skaters, bmx, if they are on TV or not, if we are on ESPN, or not, FUCK THAT SHIT!! i don’t skate for recognition, i skate for myself and who i skate with and those who i meet skating.
i support competitions, i support the industry, but as long is it’s ours, for us by us, not to show the world.

so if this goes ahead they better be careful if you want to keep the dignity of rollerblading and not let it be raped by capitalism and pathetic publicity, considering how rotten the world is in this aspect.
just imagine thousands of kids fotocopying Aragon or Farmer, all gossip and superficiality about the rollerblading jetset… oh wait, it already happens!

  31. DarthRoller Says:

God I hope this isn’t another 1997 epic fail or a new ASA.

It might work and be wonderful, but if it doesn’t, the consequences are MASSIVE.

  32. Dl Says:

jujuju , unfortunately it seems you havent been rollerblading for that long because you would understand that our industry has shed off many of the corporate only companies that gave up on skating when it reached its first peak. Now it is time for the industry to peak again & look around, 90% of the companies now that we all support are SKATER OWNED. The people who will control this new venture will not only be experienced veterans but most importantly REAL SKATERS. Thats what was so corrupt about the ASA and Shays brothers. Those guys were 4 year experienced rollerblade dance team members. They werent as dedicated to rolling like the average 10 – 15 years plus experience and wisdom, and mostly love of skating our pros and industry owners have today. YES! This is gonna be amazing!

  33. Mike Says:

How can something ran by true veteran skaters become an epic fail like ASA? Dartroller do you even remember what was going on then, I mean did you go to those contests and compete in them and understand why that failed or are you just assuming stuff. If the ASA then was run by the collective who will run this new series, we would have never had such a downturn in the industry. But the reality is that we needed that decline to get rid of the money sucking companies that dropped out eventually when rolling became just about the love. Its fine to have corporate sponsors, just as long as real skaters who care about our future control their access ino our sport.

  34. wtf Says:

YES, I can’t complain about this move. It’s easy to complain about the professionalism of a lot of people in the industry with the careless mistakes that have been made in the past, but I think that manufacturers are taking a huge step in the right direction with something like this. Look how successful the UFS has been… this will also really urge pro’s to put effort into all competitions, and in turn a lot more people should notice how much effort people are putting into the sport.

  35. Mike Says:

Im soooooo sick of all these selfish rollerbladers who pretend that if skating gets popular again it will ruin their lives. Listen, if you love skating so much, why do you fuckin care about whether or not people jock rollerblading or think its trendy. It seems these industry growth haters just want to keep skating, as they call it, “underground” so they can feel like they’re part of some special, unique clique. Im sorry but rollerblading will exist, with or without you. Get over youre selves and stop tryin to hog the joys of skating from others. When I rollerblade it has nothing to do with what others around me think or do. I just love the feeling I get when I skate, and thats all that matters.

  36. johan Says:

I agree with you mike. Its always the most clique and trendy skters who complain about the exploitation of skating. and they usually havent been skating that long so they dont understand how it used to be . They also are the ones who hate evry other sport than skating and make fun of their friends who dont have the latest gear or know whos on top. I want things to grow again so we can have skate shop in our city again. I dont care to be supercool underground skater but have no shop or scene. I support this new world series of skating

  37. Joe Says:

W.R.S is the future of rolling.

  38. hoax34 Says:

Wow, I haven’t seen such a split since the pictures of the FM Remz first got released!

I got to say that I think it’s good, just so long as it stays within rollerbladers control. I think it’s not right that so many pro’s in our sport can’t truly be a pro due to teh lack of money. I want to see companies emerging and actually lasting longer than a few years and pro’s getting paid what they deserve in relation to other sports like ours. Hell, I’d like to see Haffey on Cribs! I can’t be bothered to be underground any more. It’s time to get PAID people…

  39. BENJAMIN$ Says:

yeah, how much of a hater must you be to say that you wouldnt want to see Haffey on cribs. That guy has done sooooooo much for skating and bringing it to the insane level its at now. Please dont take a selfish approach when forming an opinion on this cause the W.R.S. is good for pros, ams, fans, and all rollers alike.

  40. BENJAMIN$ Says:

I’m saying Haffey him being on Cribs is good NOT because he’s being represented by MTV and endorsing them by being on the show but because him being picked for the show means heas doing well enough and is well knoown enough to be considered for that show.

  41. jujuju Says:

haffey on cribs… this is disgusting. i can’t believe that getting the approval from MTV is positively meaningful, that’s like getting a medal for defending freedom from george bush, a fukin insult.
there’s a long way and difference from a rollerblader controlled industry to “haffey on cribs”… that and similiar mainstream vibe is disgusting. there’s a difference between growing as a group, as an identity and selling ourselves.
i’m for growing, as long as there’s a healthy-cultural-financial balance. not MTV, ridiculous tv ads, cocacola-gatorade, support… i don’t see why there should be support from huge companies that don’t have nothing to do with us and what we stand for. i hope we don’t aim for that. the rollerblading scene is not a commercial product, we should not measure or “success” on the quantity of people skating, do you want stadiums full of people like in football (soccer for those yanks)?
i repeat: i support growth, a sustainable and responsable growth.
    i’ve been skating since 94 btw…

  42. cross Says:

i’m afraid this will reduce our hole sport to contest skating…

so there will be no sponsored skater if he’s not able to win any park contest…

    or what do you think?

andy wegeners comment kinda proves it in my eyes

there will be no need for a skater who isn’t good for the industry cause he isn’t good enough to be on tv

  43. Megameth Says:

    how is it a series?

  44. tex Says:

jujuju and romans shut the fuck up you dumb bitches. you dont even no what is all about….
    go and get a life.

  45. DA Says:

    Hey pals,

I am into Aggressive InLine Skating stuff in Brazil, and I’d like to know if any of you would have any of the “Organisation” contact about this subject, because we do have an Annual Circuit in Brazil also and could be interesting sendind and receiving athletes from and to Brazil.

    So thanks very much indeed,

    DA

  46. Keep on rollin Says:

YEEES!!! whata dream come true! ;) awsum!

  47. Ian Says:

People saying you don’t want rollerblading mainstream are completely selfish. The people that run this sport – the pros and companies that have stuck with rollerblading, despite always being hated on and having to struggle to make a living, are the people whose opinions matter most. Companies are dedicated to producing products so YOU can keep rollerblading even though they don’t make that much, and pros are risking their lives to push rollerblading further than ever and put out groundbreaking sections in videos in an attempt to entertain an ever-hating population.

Growth means these people can support themselves – it also means that consumers will see more products, more videos, more competitions. Then who will be complaining about Razors only being able to put out one mold or color at a time? Sure people will be jocking, but that’s part of society. How cool would it be to see the kids at your local park that skate every day to earn a sponsorship from the local shop? Rollerblading would be a legitimate part of the extreme sports industry rather than just a little isolated bubble. You need to realize that it isn’t just about your selfish desire to want to be “underground.” More kids will hear about it and get to enjoy our sport, and I know I would be missing out on something huge if I hadn’t seen the Roces Face the Music video on Youtube. Since you’ve been skating since ’94 jujuju, maybe you realize there are new generations of rollerbladers who don’t care about what you think we should do.

  48. Paul Cargill Says:

I support the idea but growing the sport means dick without TV coverage.

  49. Rizza Says:

Whether anyone here realizes this or not (I’m sure there are a plenty few who do), the companies that are around today are the fucking truth. Look at what Shima and Elliot do with Rat Tail/NIMH for a prime example of what a company should be. The products they release are pure genius. Great marketing and engineering design. I can’t think of one thing that has come out of Rat Tail that hasn’t been top notch quality (except the GC Hi-Lo frames, those were kinda lame).

Look at Julio with Them Goods. He’s doing an awesome job promoting skating and making it look dope.

Let the haters keep hating, cuz they ain’t doing shit but sitting behind a computer screen talking smack while the real players play the game.

The guys that control the industry now are here for the long run. The people who controlled the industry in the 90s were nothing but big corporations investing in blading just for a quick turn around profit. Same concept as what happened with the recent housing boom and construction companies. Building companies put a bunch of houses all over Riverside (about 1hr out of L.A. where people commute to L.A. for work) because at the time there was a huge demand for the houses. But look now, these houses are plummeting in price and nobody wants them. The houses are of poor build quality on top of that. These people were just in it for a quick buck and now look.

  50. sean Says:

I am pleased to see the rolling community and manufacturers are coming together for the bigger picture. Everyone that thinks that our industry is going to have an instant windfall of fame and be overwhelmingly received by the pop culture, i am sorry to say that you are impatient but hopefully not mistaken.

The corporate backing from major sponsors that we have feared are actually what we need. We need funding to keep companies alive, we need backing to make sure that the sport can still exist. There is a major requirement however, we need to make sure that the money that comes in does not change any ownership. Skater owned companies, shops etc. is what will keep this culture pure, but it makes good business sense for both the skaters and the companies to partner up.

to Juju and anyone else that pisses on this thing… if you stay pure to the way you want rolling to be, then support skater owned companies. Let the skater owned companies fight the battle to remain skater owned!

I am excited that maybe i wont be the only rollerblader at the skatepark next time i go.

  51. Hyper Mike from NYC Says:

THE NEW ” NISS” HOLLY SHIT. THATS WHATS UP BRING IT TO NYC ….WE GOT YOU .

  52. Alonzho Says:

    What can I say???

I THINK THIS IS JUST THE BEST THING THAT HAS BEEN HAPPENED TO ROLLERBLADING!!!

KEEP ON THAT ROAD ROLL INDUSTRY!!!

CONGRATS AND RESPECT TO ALL THE PEOPLE INVOLVED IN THIS AMAZING INICIATIVE!!!

    SUPORT!!!!

  53. The guy who got a point Says:

    It’s good… For the USA

A big discrimination for European riders + Riders who won a lot of contests already or are just more amazing than the pro’s now and can’t battle now for their honor = wrong

    It’s commercial

    Lomax, Harmanus, Swain, Ogger ?

New/extra pro’s when there are more bootcompany’s? or just split an existing brand in two for getting more riders pro?

    WRS = WCW ?

  54. charles Says:

This is good but rollerblading got the same problem as gimnastyc or will have the same problem soon. This sport is heavly damaging for our body much more than other or I will say like gym. This why in gim to the olympic there is no one older than 25 ( or a few), because it is just too hard when you get older (or I rather just said adult). So this king of competition will show a roll of heros, if some people stay for years on the top it mean that there is no young entering the scene or that no one let them in.
The society is wrong, school too long and the entrance in active life also, we caan live up to 100 old, but you reach your full potential in anything around 30.

  55. Bernard Says:

Genius!!! simply GENIUS! cant wait to see the result

  56. SBW Says:

    http://www.barnburner.us

  57. Scott Wilcoxson Says:

    - to attract outside media and create awareness of the sport in the broad public.
    - to hire a sports marketing agency and bring in outside sponsors.

good ideas as long as the true heads are running it. It is a double edged sword though. Outside sponsors are thinking ONE thing, how can we make money off rollerblading? As long as these “outside sponsors” are giving back to the rollers in the way of living wages and health insurance then I say, bring it!

  58. hoax34 Says:

JuJuJu, what do WE stand for as rollerbladers?? What you stand for is not what I stand for. What rollerblading to me is not what it is to you so don’t talk about US as rollerbladers like you know me. My values and principals in life come from more than just rollerblading and anyone who lets these things be dictated by one source is going to be very close minded. Is it bad that CocaCola want to give our sport the much needed financial boost it needs? No, it’s not, PROVIDED we accept the offer is accepted in terms as to what is best for the sport and the industry. The people who run companies and are involved in the industry right now aren’t stupid and are no longer the same naive kids who ran it the last time things blew.

Try having some imagination for once!

  59. rollos Says:

Didnt have time to read all the comments***

This is great news for all the bladers out there. Finally something that will bring mainstream media/people to rollerblading and only rollerblading. big upto all the companies that are hosting/sponsoring the WRS !!!!!!

    rolling peace !

  60. Mikel Says:

SWeeeeeeeeeet time to take over skateboarding

  61. rollerblading is gay Says:

you guys are a trip. having rollerblading, as a sport, become a better known and respected hobby will not take away from you individuality. stop being so childish about being “original” or an “individual.”

you kids complain that there are mostly skateboarders everywhere instead of other rollerbladers then why would you hate on this idea? promoting our sport should be one of the fundemental elements of skating. these companies are just doing it on a global skates.

for you kids hating on the idea of a global system…one day you’ll understand, maybe. hopefully its sooner than later

  62. John Dillingham Says:

This is synergy at it’s best. We must all work together not to make sure their is a future for Rollerblading, but to make sure that the future of Rollerblading is the best it can be. Organization is the key to the success of industry, and rollerbladers in general. It’s great to throw chaos into the mix, but that is what street skating is for, which is why I believe structured competitions should most definitely have a hierarchy of some sort, and every important company should play a role in it.

    It’s about fucking time.

  63. Keep on rollin Says:

    damn right !!

  64. carlos Says:

wowow some people have to CALM DOWN! nobody is saying NO to this initiative. we just have to watch out on HOW this is going to happen and to make it happen under control, under skater owned companies control.
sean and Scott Wilcoxson mentioned this, bring money in but keep the ownership ourselves (skaters), jujuju isn’t pissing or rejecting this, he is just being careful. he has a point, maybe most people don’t get it since you may be very used to aggressive marketing and advertisement, american tv, anxious for popularity at all costs. unfortunately by going too much mainstream (if we ever get to that) our sport or hobby WILL loose it’s particular flavour. that is not being selfish, it’s true.
we can grow and earn more respect and recognition, which is great, but we can also grow and be a fashionable bitch, a product, a blind vicious consumer group. that’s what we have to watch out for. (furthermore, there are some big companies that don’t have a good human rights record at all, some very well known, but people just ignore it… why work with them?)

so in conclusion: i hope it works, but let’s be responsible.

  65. Fred Castro Says:

Woooooorrrddddd Carlos! I love you man! :)

“there is no nation that is more enslaved then the one that believes its free”

    I hope its done right…

    Fred

  66. ozzdevon Says:

    great news finally!
this is a great start for rolling in the new year!
    great move!
    pls come to MALAYSIA also!
    thanks!

  67. bongo Says:

there must be a qualification system that allows exceptional skaters in the amateur competition to compete in the prosystem.

  68. Gabe Holm Says:

From what I can see I think it’s a good idea even though this is the same direction Collin Martin was trying to go with the Roll Series and I feel they kind of ripped it off with the point system and everything. But it needs to be done.

It should give more bladers a reason to start training and competing again on park. It should bring more exposure to our sport. I think non-bladers will take the sport more seriously with an organized contest circuit like this. In all the other action sports the people who make the most money are the ones that put out constant video parts on top of placing at the big contests. Those are what I call super –pros or mainstream pros.

I feel the mainstream exposure isn’t bad because we should also have the pro skaters who just film video parts and do the tours, demos, creative shit etc. basically just promote the sport and their sponsors company on a more grassroots level.

A unified professional contest circuit like that will bring more money and exposure to the bigger contests.

  69. Tim Says:

Its about time to represent rolling to the world, not just to us rollerbladers but to other people who doesnt know any thing obout it…next step olympics

  70. Blaah Says:

I dont see why anyone would object to big corporate companies investing in the rollerblading industry. It just means the pro’s will get more money, competitions will get more exposure + big prize money. And as for Nike enterting the market, let them. As long as we keep supporting the companies we know and like then whats wrong with other big companies gettin in on the act? Its just going to give our sport the exposure and money it has needed for yearsssssss…maybe one day when i tell people i am a rollerblader they will think its cool.

    FUCK staying underground!

  71. carlos Says:

I wouldn’t want any big sweatshop using company entering the rollerblading industry… and if there are some starving chinese doing my skates or something like that then I wouldn’t mind paying more to get my “sweatshop free” skates… the same goes for any rollerblading clothes company or whatever, if it ever comes to that point. I’m against big corporate interest in rollerblading. Most people here probably don’t even care or know what I’m talking about, after all we only care about getting filmed, getting sponsored, getting more money don’t matter where it comes from, just show me the moneeeyyy!!

well I’m fairly new to rolling. I don’t know about the ASA or the failures before and what caused them exactly. but I do know that it needs a little bit of outside help. you cant buy skates in skate shops and such. thats all we need. we don’t need cocacola nike and addidas but we do need a little bit of a push monetarilly.

I think a good Idea would be if anyone who skates even just starting could sign up through some web based….list per say. of every skater. and become ranked by other skaters. and combine the whole world of skating like this. you could do without it but i think it would be a great idea. create awarness of other scenes. bring rollers together. it would be fantastic.

somebody should jump on the idea.

Carlos, no one is saying you have to join into this new movement. I just feel its not fair to try and convince others to feel the way you do and possibly not support this new series. Carlos you can believe what you want but dont be so selfish to try and make rollerblading suit your geo political views and goals. Thats your own business. Let people who want the industry to grow do their thing. No one is telling you how, where or what to blade so dont try and give us some geo political save the world spin on things that only suit your interest. Unless you make your own clothes and grow your own food, you’re just as much as the problem as everyone else.

talk is cheap. thankfully everyone posting here has nothing to do with the actual decision making.

it sounds great and appears to have key people involved, but i’ll wait until i see results. not to discredit it in any way, it has my full support and i wish them well, i’m just waiting to see it not hear about it.

    great work

I have only one question. Will there be a vert section in the comp. Lord knows we need it plus it’s a dying art that is super sick.

  79. this guy Says:

    Carlos,
Most skates are already made in china.

  80. carlos Says:

    hey benjamin$$€€
who is saying not to support this? don’t put words in my mouth ok? you tell me not to make rollerblading suit my “geo political views and goals”, then don’t try them to suit yours. I say what I think, and it’s not wrong, actually it’s very logical and good.
my own interest? precisely im NOT talking of my own interest. and it’s not some save the world spin, its the fukin truth. you just keep ignoring it and feed the shitty way the world is going, you don’t even know it asshole. talking about a responsible industry is not selfish or my own business, it’s on everybody’s best interest, so shut the fuk up.
but don’t worry man, most of the time thing$ go the bling bling way, ju$t how you like it!! yeaa you ju$t can’t wait
