this dude rob from flatlines is something else! he thinks the boot companies arent giving anything back to the bladers and that they need to “step up to the plate and make a commercial”….get real dude…theres a reason why you never rollerbladed once fool….stick to what you know, and even if you dont, at least dont go around talking like you know our industry

I’ve got to agree with the skate shop owner on this one. For example – with the millions of dollars Razors has made over the past decade, the team members still skate for chump change – and not a damn person outside the scene knows the difference between a Razors pro skate and a Modell’s “nitro blade extreme” recre-skate.
RB and K2 are the only brands I can remember advertising on TV back in the day. There is NO excuse why our current brands shouldnt be doing the same. Our pros kill themselves for a few years and their broken bodies retire at 22… thats absolutely pathetic – and THAT is why the industry is in the state its in.
Our brands dont exist and our pros are children.

This is probably the high quality print PDF… Reason for the big file size. I would rather have the high quality version.
This is my rule for drop shadows on type.
• If the type is dark, make the drop shadow white
• If the type is light, make the drop shadow dark.
Photoshop Layer style drop shadow:
Opacity – Adjust to the background colour, don’t make the shadow a solid black or white, as it will look too harsh against the chosen background colour.
Angle – Usually 120º
Distance – 2px
Spread – 0
Size – 1px
This is the best looking drop shadow.

I am completely convinced now more than ever that the people leaving these negative remarks are just kids, you guys are not real skaters you are probably skateboarders. In the 20+ years in the sport i have never seen such a thing, if you truely love somthing you would’nt want to distroy it angelo pours his heart and soul into this mag each month he is not making any money from it the kid just loves to roll and loves to take pic’s and came to a point where he just wanted to give back and decided to start this online mag. I also notice that the people making these negative comments are not using there real name if they did all i would have to do is search there name on the internet to see that they have not done ANYTHING to grow our sport. When i first started the LMS Competition series people were doing the same thing they found the stupidest things to talk negative about, the event in the pass three years has grow, more and more people are rolling. STOP BEING LIKE CRAB IN THE BUCKET! if you don’t know what i am talking about put a bunch of crabs in a bucket and see what happen. I shouldn’t even get myself all worked up because in the next ten years the one that are speaking negative wouldn’t be around anyway i am 34 now and plan to be around for a long time.
ONE LOVE!

160 MB is too big for a download PDF magazine. host the file at http://www.issuu.com so people can view it online, and choose to download if they want to.
tons of good content, some of it hard to read but manageable. lots and lots of really good photos. and in the skate shop owner interview, it’s “congregate”, not “conjugate”. big difference :) we don’t want people thinking that kids are outside of skate shops talking about skating and then fucking each other.
keep it up :D

drop shadows are to offten used by people who cant design. Photoshop should not be use for type. end story….my staff hate it when I go thru and ask them to remove 90% of the drop shadows from our papers.
I was coming here to coment on… MEAN ROCKET ON THE FRONT PAGE OI OI

July 9th, 2009 at 3:51 am
yo GK dickhead rob knows more about the industry than u do.he talks to the skate company managers and knows when skates are gunna drop, competitions are gunna happen and people that are going to be pro and get booted of the team and he knows the history of rollerblading so dnt talk shit about this dude…maybe u should go to the shop and hell school u on inside shit that u dnt know

I have never met Victor Callender or Angelo but I do know that they have been skating a really long time and I respect everything that they have done for rollerblading. Anyone who hates on what Angelo is trying to do here should just quit or go pick up a fucking skateboard. Shit is getting ridiculous with all the hate on here. I would say that 90% of the shit talking on here is from 13 to 18 yr old children that would rather stay on the internet (myspace/facebook/messageboards) 24/7 than go out and skate or do something productive with their lives.

about drop shadows on text because people don’t know how to design:
BULLSHIT. Drop shadows are used all the time in publications to help distinguish text from the background. When done properly, you really do not even notice it. Subtlety is key. Using Photoshop for text effects is acceptable, but not for page layouts. I wouldn’t even suggest InDesign, but instead use Illustrator. Text boxes can be easily made to whatever shape you want, alignment is less frustrating.
To the creator of the magazine: take the original PDF and in Acrobat Professional, find the option for “Reduce File Size” and use it. It will flatten all transparencies and optimize the file for faster viewing, not to mention that the file size will reduce in size.

Man I was lost to the fact that in some of those interviews they were saying that they don’t have a place to skate but in like the whole mag there were ads of new renovated skateparks on like every other page…in my city here in MD there are only 6 rollers and Im the most dedicated but not the most skilled out of us…but we live in a very small town anyway…and we have only one rinky dink skatpark that we make the most of
July 10th, 2009 at 2:44 am
fast Eddie you missed the point…..and there are better ways to make type stand of a background that just throwing drop shadows at it….anyway who cares, tis a cool looking mag anyway and it should be given the props it deserves……
how much did it cost>? nothing, how much work went into it, heaps…RESPECT
