An Afternoon with Louie Zamora by One Mag

We caught up with Louie Zamora for a session this weekend. And though we got kicked out of one legendary spot and the sun set on another, this all managed to go down.
We think you’ll agree that it’s great to see Louie doing his thing and speaking his mind. Dig it! Video after the break. — ONE
Erik Bailey made the cover of One Mag, Issue #19, check this post.

MORE LOUIE!!!!
rollerblading needs more former proskaters to come back into that blading and filming process! i never understood how one can switch from being a pro skater to not skate at all within a few years
November 20th, 2011 at 11:40 am
why only two stents? ca’mon… boring
November 20th, 2011 at 12:57 pm

People hatin on Louie Zamora need to read up on rolling history! Ever heard of 2nd Regime? Ever heard of Deshi? Ever heard of VG XIV? Please people don´t get into the vicious circle of forgetting about your roots and those who gave us what we love to do today! I´m serious…this shit has happened to the first generation of pros (like Matt Salerno, Tim Ward, Tom Fry…) and it seems like the second – even more inspiring – generation is getting the boot, too…that´d be the worst ever…
November 20th, 2011 at 1:49 pm
Ohhhh shit! U made my day, thanks louie z!
November 20th, 2011 at 2:28 pm
agreed Luke . and yea i grew up watching louie kill in contest and videos his style is still un matched . thank you for rolling .
November 20th, 2011 at 2:45 pm
Man, Louie Zamora is one of the best ever. Such style, so solid, and he skated up to everything fast as shit. His VG 19 profile is still so sick. His topsoul-backside backslide – true mizou on that kinked rail in that profile is one of the sickest tricks I’ve ever seen. Kids don’t even know what’s up, if they’re hating on Louie Zamora.
November 20th, 2011 at 3:50 pm
This post better end up with the most positive support/comments ever – or I swear to God I will never come back on Rollernews again… Just the way Zamora lands fakie and rolls away as smooth as butter, is better than half the other shit posted on this site. Ever. Please stay and show us more and get K2 back on the map!
November 20th, 2011 at 3:55 pm
Louie Z. is still one of my fav rollers. Grew up watching this guy kill it and glad to see he still is!. Looks like his bro is still skating with him too in there. Very very cool shit here….
November 20th, 2011 at 3:56 pm
if you hate on mr zamora, you don’t know about rolling…
dudes been holding it down since the early 90s.

See kids, blading isnt going anywhere. Louie Z is still a shredder! Once a killer always a killer.
November 20th, 2011 at 5:57 pm
I’d rather see Zamora doing a disaster royale then a young fucker doing a disaster hurricane topsoul without any style.I’m glad i’ve been rolling since 95 , and that i’ve adapted that ninja style. Still got alot of respect for mr. Zamora!
November 20th, 2011 at 7:10 pm
Damn!! One of my Heroes! Great to see him still skating! He´s a legend!!!
November 20th, 2011 at 7:12 pm
Looks like when you get to a certain age you gotta stick to royales and farvs. It’s good to see Louis still skating though.
November 20th, 2011 at 8:40 pm
Looks like when youre a young punk you gotta stick to anonymously talking smack on the internet. Its good to see Louis is still better than you.
November 20th, 2011 at 9:02 pm
I watch his section in “respect” (it’s a compilation out of other B.C. videos) many times before I skate, it’s the best for me to get me juiced!
November 20th, 2011 at 9:37 pm
hes so right, skating never goes away, the rest of your life your gonna look at things and just think what could be done on them
November 20th, 2011 at 10:21 pm
Zamora was and still is a legend.
I hope he keeps putting out clips/small edits. He’ll probably never be able to wind back the clock and roll like he used to, but it doesn’t matter, as simply seeing tricks done to his level of style perfection is a joy.
So solid, got that ninja steeze.
Did so much for rolling too. I’m 25 now and have seen a good few pros all but stop for a few years and then have difficulty maintaining their best tricks. I’m nothing special, but seeing people and wondering what might have been had they not been forced into breaks keeps me juiced to go out at LEAST once a week so I don’t lose it and can pass on a few tips to my son/daughter if I ever start a family.
November 20th, 2011 at 11:30 pm
That was straight nasty. Anyone talking smack clearly has brain damage. Louie is the original style master and cannot be touched by the likes of the internet garbage that reside on this site. I remember chilling at Chenga 1 in like 97 and Louie shows up and starts disaster souling the bauer box in his yellow k2 fattys like its nothing. Ask yourself what you were doing in 97?

damn you kids are funny. out of hibernation- respect somebody who knows what they’re talking about. if you dont like louie you dont know/like rollerblading. go back to myspace or whatever you posers are up to.
November 21st, 2011 at 5:30 am
Wow I can’t believe there are some actually hate comments on louie zamora here, are you fucken kidding me? what a bunch of fucken retards. They probably been skating for less than 3 years and know nothing about rollerblading. Fucken pathetic to see dumbasses hating on zamora. I’m glad to see he still skates and an edit from him even if it was just 2 tricks. I always wanted to get his USD throne, the white/black ones and I could never got them when I was a kid.
November 21st, 2011 at 6:14 am
An afternoon with him and he laced 2 easy ass tricks. Who cares that he’s an OG that doesn’t make him good. Step it up “louieeeee”.
November 21st, 2011 at 6:15 am
Best steez EVER…pay very close attention kiddies. 1st dude I ever seen hittin 540 KG’s. ALSO dude has the best turn around after landing a trick fakie.
Cannot fuck with Louie Zamora.
November 21st, 2011 at 10:06 am
Totally agree with the person who stated we need to remember our roots. Louie’s steeze most probably also influenced Sagona’s style, since they were both on K2 (and 2nd Regime) back in the day, and if you look at a lot of these pros ‘n who they hang/hung out with you can see what’s been derived where. So give respect where it’s due. Gotta get these guys back into the limelight; they are the mentors rollerblading needs.
I’d also much prefer a short clip of an OG lacing a relatively (by today’s standards) quaint trick, over a four minute edit of an am doing hurricane-everything without style whatsoever.
November 21st, 2011 at 11:13 am
for all the kids out there… go watch sell your soul 2roll.
one of the BEST vids in skating as far as i’m concerned… louis, randy, iain, vinny, sagona, halleran.
damn, that shit was over dope!
November 21st, 2011 at 3:31 pm
I think people are taking this “legend” thing way too far…sure, he had his time in the spotlight, he is a rolling legend, but just because he did a couple of tricks doesn’t mean you have to worship him and say a couple of ok clips are the best things in ten years…dial it down a couple notches. And no, I’m not hating, I’m just saying some people are taking his veteran status in the industry too far
November 21st, 2011 at 3:40 pm
you know one thing i’m realizing though – all these young kids hating can’t really help it. It’s not really their fault that Louie and 80% of the other pros from back in the day fell off the fucking map. Our sport is weaker because of these past pro’s willingness to just let rollerblading go.
I’ve got nothing but respect for Louie and anyone else who helped lay the foundation of our sport, and this edit made me smile so big it hurt. But shit man, if we have not built a strong enough community that fosters these kids actually having a way and reason to know about the old OG’s…what do we really expect from these new bucks?
My two cents…
November 21st, 2011 at 4:58 pm
There are a lot of ogs on this post, and I love that! Keep up the support of rollerblading in general and stop judging what you see. If you do that your doing three wrong things. 1 you’re putting down our industry. 2 you’re being a coward. 3 most importantly you are not challenging yourself to become a better person and skater . I encourage all rollerbladers to step out of their comfort zones and try some new trick or air, you might surprise yourself.

This internet thing is poison. Seriously, Zamora is one of the most influential people to step inside this corny game of SKATE. Skating is never going to die, nor has it ever been Dying. No matter what that movie Barely Dead told you kids… we know who you are. Youre all the same little 17yr olds who skip around skateparks wondering if mommy is going to make hamburger helper tonight or not.
Stop disrespecting your roots just because this site lets you do it anonymously. A fire has been lit under those that really care about the quality and love of this culture. You can see that in every 30yr old who posts an online edit. The OGs that stepped away for a minute are all coming back, and you little bastards better recognize!!
November 21st, 2011 at 11:27 pm
WTF? JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND SKATE… 2 MAYBE 3 TRICKS? WTF IS THIS SHIT.
November 21st, 2011 at 11:57 pm
Those kids dont know nothing about inline skating, and look, i’m 24 years old…
One of major defferences in our sport and skateboard is that behavior. Skateboarders are more united, no matter what skate style. Longboarders, vert skaters, street, old school…
I live Brazil, and many times we use to roll with some skateboarders. Some old guys have a big halfpipe in a small city here. The young skateboarders have great respect for those guys, even young talents that already have better skills than the olders. We skate together, respecting each other and here (southern Brazil), our sport grows in partnership.
Moreover, my nick “k2″ born because the guys that ride the k2 skates, like zamora, pat and schrijin… oh that old and nice red nemesis… :D
We community, in fact the young ones, needs to learn the history of our sport, and know more about the legends, not only run to the shops and buy new skates…

ca c’est du bon les enfants, rapide et stylé ca change des ados en slims!!!
November 24th, 2011 at 1:33 pm
God damn, it’s good to see him back. What he says is true – I stopped skating 2-3 years ago, but sometimes I think about it, that’s why I come here once in a while. Now I’m thinking about getting a new pair of skates and just chill with skating, no crazy shit, just chilling.
