AirGear, shounen anime & manga by Ito Ogure
A new fad by the name of ‘Air Trek’ (a futuristic evolution of inline-skating) has swept the nation’s youth and all over gangs are being formed that compete in various events using their A-T. Ikki is a middle-school boy who is the toughest street-fighting punk on the east side of town, on top of that he lives with 3 gorgeous sisters that took him in when he was a kid.
But what Ikki doesn’t know is that the girls are part of one of the most infamous A-T gangs, ‘Sleeping Forest’. Not long does it take before Ikki finds out about the world of Air Trek and is propelled into a fate he had not foreseen.
Rollerblades, rollerskates, you’ve probably heard of them, right? Shoes with wheels attached.
There are crazy guys everywhere, not content to walk around, they invented trick shoes : dashing, sliding, spinning, fLying . On walls, on fences, they used them on railings.
A long time ago they realised.
Air Blades : faster, Higher. Those crazy idiots finally did it. Self propelled shoes equipped with powerfull suspensions, air-cushion systems, and ultra-smalls motors in the wheels.
Their arrival revolutionized the back-alley trick scene. Soon after other people started to realise that the whole city’s sky was a road !

the first skates were defenitly razors shima 1-3 with gc 3th generations. all the other skates had mooks =)

i think that AIRGEAR is cool, maby becous i like mangas and animes! airgear is cool becous it makes rollerbladig popular!
how many rollerbladers play tony howk on the ps, and at the last game thay can play as a skateborder or as a bmxer but not as an inline skater! we can be happy for every thing that make rollerblading famous!!!

I like the concept behind of the series which is to popularize the rolling scene but to do so with the skates looking different and accompanied with a different story line. What I don’t like about it is the fact that the skates wheels are really big and they don’t have any soul/negative plates. I know they are big to increase speed but stability and balance is an issue which is why rolling wheels are small in the first place and how will you get actual variety and variations in tricks with soul/negative tricks? All we may see are topside tricks. Other than that, don’t know much about the story.

i read this manga and watch the anime.
the anime is not as good as the manga.
they dont do much grinds.. they do more air tricks..
the whole point of Air-Treks (the rollerblades they are using) are that you dont really need to stride anymore. The wheels are motorized and speed up with downwards pressure on them.
they are able to fly with these air-treks on. speed and agility. they have teams taht battle for crests or custom air-trek parts.
its difficult to explain it all. it is an interesting story.. but it isnt for everyone..

you can download these episodes on some anime website by using a bit torrent client. i dld one episode like 2 months ago just to check it out and it is beyond ridiculous. waste of time, but hey if you like it dont let me burst your bubble. ^^

dude that series looks pretty sic. and yes I spelled it without the k. folks I hate to tell you this but we need as much exposure as possible if we want to bring the money back into the industry. I know those of you who aren’t sponsored don’t understand this but money in the industry is a great thing. So even if this series sucks we should all be supporting it because sooner or later things like this and other creative ideas will not only grab the children but other people who normally wouldn’t care, and with enough of an audience we will then again grab the attention of the big companies like ford and McDonalds, the walmarts and Toys ‘R’ Us like we did in 96-97. The skateboarders have them and they don’t care how gay something looks as long as it’s on a board. Madonna had once said that “any publicity is good publicity” cause once the media stops taking your picture then you truly are on a decline towards being bankrupt like we are. Being underground is cool for so long, then it stops being underground and starts being just in the ground dead and buried.

ive been watching air gear for a while now, and i just got back from japan where it is kinda of popular.
i personally love the show and the manga is good too. they do alot of tricks, but they arent real tricks or they use a trick name but show a picture of something super weird. its really a good anime. the animation is done very well, and i like the story. and whoever said its like pokemon and that it has no rollerblading in it, then you are crazy(or havent seen an episode or read past volume one of the manga :]) it has nothing in common with pokemon at all, and it is pure skating. i mean,the kids walk around in there skates everywhere, and you also cant expect it to be the skating we all know and love. this is supposed to be the new progression(sp) in rolling, so its not meant to be what we know.
over all, i think air gear is amazing. the art is done by the tenjou tenge creator and looks great.
if you like anime or manga at all, then you should really give this a chance. i think volume one just came out in english, and you can DL them somewhere online. you can watch the anime on youtube, and it is updated as the episodes air in japan,so you can keep up with it.
i doubt anyone read this because its an old topic i think, and my post is kind of long, but yea. if you did get through it all, then thanks. :)
