Able Frames Gen 3 Broken after 20 minutes

quoting hyped :
I bought these new ables, and today i went to the indoor skatepark to try them out. My first thought was, “OMG, these frames lock perfectly, they slide fast, and they were awsome on cess slides.
THEN after 20min of rolling, they snapped..

that must have sucked , anywayt i dont like ables
November 13th, 2006 at 2:56 pm
not even the worst frames in the world (mooks) snap after 20 mins, and ables are a LOT stronger, i think your pair was just faulty, maybe theres a whole batch that need to be recalled and replaced, get intouch with able im pretty sure they will hook you up with a new pair.

November 13th, 2006 at 4:06 pm
yea i got big balls an tha puts alot of pressure on my frames when im rolling aswell if i stand around too long on skates my wheels turn into squares , somone please bring back the phizics concept those are the mercedes benz of frames
November 13th, 2006 at 4:06 pm
The only frames I never broke were Fluids. I broke GC Gen3’s, 50/50 Balances (even throught a frame wall, where the frames are the thickest) and Kizer Type M’s. Wich brings me to the point where I can say; every frame can snap!
You’ve just had either bad luck or a faulty pair. Call Able, tell em what happened, get new frames refunded.
November 13th, 2006 at 4:18 pm
lol, they’re all clean and shit. =)
November 13th, 2006 at 4:19 pm

November 13th, 2006 at 4:39 pm
tomi ur not right
mine break right in the middle
November 13th, 2006 at 4:54 pm
wow thats defo faulty not even mooks do that, what trick did they snap on?
November 13th, 2006 at 5:12 pm
FX is right, but I think that the companies should test more the products.
A pro testing a frame is ok, but I would like to see some groomets who lock on to grinds without the same smoothness that pros do.
Quality control is another important issue. Sometimes, the samples are not the same as released products.
suspensions broke
mooks too
gc hilo too
core 50/50 broke
so FX is right, but the companies shoul do the tests right and focus on production quality control…
November 13th, 2006 at 5:19 pm
since the 90 s i m trying to broke my Roces lowrider frame …
November 13th, 2006 at 5:55 pm
that has to be a faulty pair because i ride those and they are fast and nice by the way how did u break them?? i think this picture is posed because its perfectly broken right down the middle and the frames arnt even dirty from grinding. idk maybe he tryed a hugh gap and snapped em but idk htey ride nice for me and there strong . i think these pair are faulty or posed.
November 13th, 2006 at 6:43 pm
never buy able it sucks !
November 13th, 2006 at 6:45 pm
thats exactly where my mates gen 2 ables snapped
it’s wierd though because able are so solid
November 13th, 2006 at 6:47 pm
I’ve never broke a frame like that. The only time I ever had a frame crack was back in the 90’s when I had non-aggressive frames, but even then it wasn’t all t he way through and I just put on new grind plates until I could afford to replace the skates.
I’ll second that that pair must have just had a defect in the quality of the pour. I’ll also second that more engineering people need to be hired to make quality frames, but the trouble is that this is still just a “toy” and unless you want to spend good money, there’s no way even our favorite frame companies can afford to do the testing to make a truly amazing frame.
November 13th, 2006 at 6:47 pm
lil grasshoppa what are you talking abot there are marks on the cess slide walls and wax on the blocks
November 13th, 2006 at 6:51 pm
I don’t like to talk down some one’s hard work but if I see total foolish and then I just can’t hold my feelings back. My opinion is that you don’t have to be genius or engineer to see that those frames will not last as much as you expect. It’s so logical that this kind on design frames don’t abide freestyle way of handling. I hope Able team will redesign their work.
November 13th, 2006 at 7:04 pm
the really important question is:
“what skates did you brake them on?”
if it`s remz, well, that`s what happens…but don`t worry, frames do brake now and then, no need to cry about it on here even though it sucks.
November 13th, 2006 at 7:04 pm
Treb,
I actually agree after looking at the frames a second time.. It’s way too solid of a block. no room for natural expansion in there.. landin on them hard could easily snap them i suppose. whatever.
November 13th, 2006 at 7:08 pm
my friend broke his new vinny minton frames of literally a 2 foot drop, he was jumping off of a ledge that he was chillin on and his frame just broke in half.
November 13th, 2006 at 7:09 pm
Kizer Type M Team Rules!
November 13th, 2006 at 7:51 pm
Could do with some kind of metal frame in them….might make them a bit heavey though.
November 13th, 2006 at 8:18 pm
WAS IT COLD OUT WHEN IT BROKE??????
plastic gets brittle at low temps. I have broken 90% of my frames in the winter. also do not leave your skates outside in the cold overnight including in your car. as the plastic gets warm and cold it expands and contracts which causes weak points in plastic and warps urathane wheels in to ovals.
November 13th, 2006 at 8:39 pm
im skating with the old josh petty`s freestyle kizers with diamond block! PERFECT! its $h!t , cuz i cant buy new pair of pettys…
November 13th, 2006 at 8:47 pm
Depends on what skate you use. If the boot is stiff enough the frames won’t brake fast. If you use deshi or remz the frame will brake much faster cause these boots are not stiff and the frame has to take all the preshure allone!
November 13th, 2006 at 8:49 pm
hehe i broke my low rider frame 97`
November 13th, 2006 at 8:51 pm

November 13th, 2006 at 9:47 pm
I don’t like able frames
ables is a shit frames
November 13th, 2006 at 10:03 pm
yo i dont give a fuck… send them shits my way… i’ll melt them back together.. them shits is still mad fresh!!!
November 13th, 2006 at 10:09 pm
I don’t like how people are giving ables a bad name its extremly hard to come up with these ideas, a huge risk because theres mofos out there that will have defects, and advertising them is expensive as fuck. So please, if you don’t have nothing nice to say I suggest you don’t say nothing at all.
November 13th, 2006 at 10:10 pm
ive never seen a fram snap like that before ive had my hilos since january and they are still holding up

November 13th, 2006 at 11:58 pm
i dont believe it, common’ man, i have had mine for about 4 weeks and doing gaps and everything. give me a break
November 14th, 2006 at 1:06 am
man hahahaha those frames suk my nuts :):P
November 14th, 2006 at 1:35 am
It is kinda odd that it snapped through the H-Block and the frame in the same spot even though they are sort of seperate elements…also depending on what skates they were on..the fame sits flat hard agaisnt the sole of the boot..thus bracing it even more…also where it snaped was right through a cross member in the frame which one would think would be the strongest part of the frame…….It was with a dodge frame or plastic batch…or this is bogus wind up………
November 14th, 2006 at 1:47 am
wow that would piss me off a lot. I broke my mooks but those even lasted a few months. I’m sure you can get your money back though
November 14th, 2006 at 1:54 am
best frames= Xsjado’s freestlye frames
worst frames= ABLES!!!!
November 14th, 2006 at 2:03 am
One time when I was in Amsterdam at the IMYTA (2005). I was sitting with a good friend of mine who used to ride for able frames on a bench in a skatepark and on the next bench was Azikwee Anderson who owns and run’s able frames.
A local Dutch skater came up to Azikwee and asked him to speak with a kid who’s ables had snapped after only a few times skating. I overheard the conversation between Azikwee and the kid who’s frames had snapped. Azikwee was saying how he had never heard of a set of Able frames having ever snapped before, and that he would replace the Kids frames as it was a “bizarre incident”.
My good Friend who rode for able frames at the time and myself were finding this conversation between Azikwee and the Kid very funny as my good friend had snapped every single set of Able frames that he was ever given, some he had snapped from just walking down a set of stairs! My good friend had even returned a black sack (bin liner) full of his broken frames to Able for testing (around 10+sets).
Therefore…………I SMELL SHITE!
November 14th, 2006 at 2:19 am
i got mine strate out of vinnys hands and before they even came out and mine are hella coo
November 14th, 2006 at 2:41 am
i just baught a pair of the new ables and I have skated them for 3 days and they seem fine to me
November 14th, 2006 at 3:14 am
i’ve broke ever pair of able frames i’ve ever had… which has only been three… but still, i’ve broken them right down the middle just like in the pic.
i was done with able’s after the first pair, but i got the other pairs for free… can’t turn down “free”
November 14th, 2006 at 3:33 am
I have rolled able gen 2 frames for a year and never broke them. I have broke xsjado x2 and fiziks x2. My original GC frames never broke. I can assure you the guys at Able dont want they’re frames to break. Im also fairly sure that Vinny Minton would destroy a weak frame fairly quickly. So get some new ones sent and if they break, dont roll Able.
November 14th, 2006 at 3:49 am
..my homie road them for about 20 min as well and they snapped …i think able needs to go back to the drawing board
November 14th, 2006 at 3:53 am
probably just an air bubble or some sort of inconsistency in the plastic, when you make thousands of anything there’s bound to be a couple wierd/defective ones mixed in. just contact the shop you bought ‘em from and they should take care of you.
November 14th, 2006 at 4:39 am
They must be defective. Al Dolega is probly right about it being an air bubble. It’s the only thing that makes sense to me.Able has a great rep for being sturdy.Like Al said, when something is mass produced-there is bound to be a few faulty ones in the mix.Shit happens. Don’t listen to the able haters… instead of getting your money back, ask the shop you got them from to hook you up with a new pair.Lightning doesn’t strike twice if you know what I mean.
November 14th, 2006 at 4:44 am
I don’t understand how so many people have broken so many frames. I used to rock the old TRS frames for years. I probly grinded about half the plastic off. Yet ,they are still in rideable shape. And yes I could still do gaps on them if I wanted to put them back on.
November 14th, 2006 at 4:52 am
It seems to me that freestyle frames break alot easier. Most of the frames I have seen or heard of breaking were mooksor other freestyle frames. Still, I’m surprised that ables snapped. defective. Just goes to show kiddies…Freestyle is cheating… and bad things happen to cheaters.
November 14th, 2006 at 6:13 am
no big deal, there’s always faulty goods in all areas of manufacturing, this is one isolated broken frame so what’s with the bad publicity?
November 14th, 2006 at 7:04 am
i have new feinberg suspension wery good
November 14th, 2006 at 10:00 am
ive had a few of the older ables snap while riding them freestyle and ive had two friends who have snapped ables before. all frames snap at some point or another. whether it be cause of wear or because of faulty production……it can happen.
call able or e-mail them with pics and a description of what happened. im sure they wont have a problem with helpin you out.
November 14th, 2006 at 1:45 pm

i rekon ables are cool, i had a pair of the zamora gen 2’s and they lasted a year but by that end they were basicly mooks lol
November 16th, 2006 at 7:30 pm
Man I Had Ables For A While And They Were Sick And They Never Had Any Sign Of Breaking.. I Think You Must Of Got A Faulty Pair
November 17th, 2006 at 3:19 pm
I had 1st Gen Able frames that broke right in the middle. But the H-Block didn’t break, just the frame. Great frames though.
November 19th, 2006 at 4:18 am
DUDE fuck able
get the kizer 07s m frames… they fuckin amazing
November 21st, 2006 at 1:42 am
I have rode on ables off and on since the first all black jarens, the white and blue zamoras, the green and white teams, and now the Jeromy Morris’s. Not once have I ever broke any of these frames in any way. The only frames I have ever broken have been Kizers, Ground Control, and the old classic fifty-fiftys. Quit going all “Fuck Able” and all of this lame shit. Like the kid said, it was an individualy bad frame, shit happens. Its the same reason you can buy a set of wheels that just last forever, and then buy the exact same set and watch them blow and decore within a week. Its just the risk of manufacturing and being a consumer.
