2009 WRS Pro Tour: The 2009 World Finals (Las Vegas, USA) by Jeremy Cloe
World class riders gathered in Las Vegas on Halloween weekend and battled for the World Finals title, last stop of the WRS 2009 Pro Tour.
A lot of pessure was on Aragon at this final event in Vegas because two riders could have potentially taken his 1st place on the WRL: Chris Haffey and Julien Cudot.
After a brilliant season on the Pro Tour in which he qualified for the Pro Finals, amateur Julien Cudot didn’t manage to pass the first round. Chris Haffey, although succeeding at qualifying for the final round, took a hard fall on a disaster true fish and had to retire from the competition.Despite Wellsmore’s (2nd) impressive tricks, Broskow’s (3rd) creativity and style, Sizemore’s (4th) aggressive disasters and Stockwell’s (5th) fast lines, Brian Aragon did not loose his focus and took 1st place by landing stylish hammers and utilizing the whole course including every new obstacles built especially for the Las Vegas Finals.
He was then crowned 2009 World Champion (WRL#1) in front of the Vegas crowd, alongside Chris Haffey (WRL#2) and David Sizemore (WRL#3).

Nice, more tricks in this edit. Still don’t see why broskow and wellsmore beat sizemore and stockwell though. Well, maybe stockwell, but for real, sizemore layed down some hammers.
November 7th, 2009 at 10:18 am
sick that were…
November 7th, 2009 at 10:48 am
sorry but why Haffey is 11th ?
November 7th, 2009 at 11:24 am
what is broskow doin here?
I’m a big fan of brskw but… he can’t win contest playing this game!

The type of skating Alex and CJ have been doing lately seems to be to flow round the park kinda non-stop, so not as easy to get the camera ready for to capture every trick, but when the skating is being judged on dificulty, creativity, style and CONSISTENCY it’s understandable the Alex and CJ would be up there near the top. Thanks for the edit, lookin forward to possibly more edits though or is that gettin greedy? :)

Not greedy at all Pullar
If CJ deserved 2nd surely there is more footage of him. Yet another edit ( albeit very good edit!) that did not showcase exactly why CJ got 2nd and broskow 3rd.
Im sure they deserved it, but the last 2 edits do not show enough of them, leading to people question why they placed the way they did, which ultimately stirs up hate :(
I spose only the people who were actually there will understand unless another edit proves otherwise.
Sick edit though :)

W.R.S. seem to be a big event all over the world ! What is the prize money for the tour winner, please ?
Le W.R.S. est apparemment un grand Ă©vènement … combien pour le gagnant du tour ?

Much better edit, but still have to have more…..
Need to C more CJ
November 7th, 2009 at 12:56 pm
nice edit but i still don’t get why the final took place in this skate-park though…throughout the year the WRS comps took place in big skate-parks where the skaters could lace massive tricks (720 to true top soul ect). This skate-park is no more no less than a bowl with 3 tiny boxes and 2 copings…i am pretty sure it had effects on the way people skated the final, i saw the valo edit with broskow, fuckin hell he was skating as it was a chilled sunday morning session…
November 7th, 2009 at 1:00 pm
NVK, i totally agree with your opinion!

sick edit, this is the shit cant wait for next year! :)

I was there too and noone understands how much CJ threw down, cause he REALLY did kill shit. That Royal spin to flat was from the side of the box that noone hit, and it was a huge disaster into, which only people who were there can really understand. My personal opinion was close to Jon’s but I have to say that Abrate did really well too, better than Stockwell who didn’t really throw hammers, just skated a bowl like he’s known for killing shit in. EVERYONE was hung over from being in Vegas and they pretty much just skated with tricks we’ve seen before. Still one hell of a competition.
November 7th, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Yea i agree. we all have an opinion on shit lol but i dont think broskow should have gotten 3rd. yes its judged on line, consistency, and stuff like that. but what about risk factor. broskow was doing stuff he normally does everyday shit lol. shima was throwing hammers from what i could see. im all for consistency but if some else is just as or more consistent and are taking way more of a risk. they win hands down.

about time aragon made these bums sit down… and sizemore sucks f.y.i. Your friend died, everyone dies get over it and take the fucking helmet off
November 7th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
Sizemore tricks were the hardest and the best. He should of won.
November 7th, 2009 at 8:06 pm
alot better than faggot ass brazlionaires edit
November 7th, 2009 at 8:11 pm
yeah i dont understand what the fuck is up with the helmet, i dont understand how they can even get sponsered..ive never taken anyone seriously who wears a helmet, how can someone wear one when 99% of pros and ams dont..it looks fucking dumb, cuz they do big shit, but the helmet makes them look like such a pussy
November 7th, 2009 at 8:17 pm
ret’d? does that mean haffeys tricks were too retarded?

thats how you make a wrs finals edit
November 8th, 2009 at 3:33 am
thought this edit was much better than the previous one
November 8th, 2009 at 3:36 am
Great edit, I’ll leave the judging to those who were there. There is certainly something to be said for consistent skating as well as technical and huge hammers. Those of you commenting about the helmet, it in no way makes any of the tricks that were laced any easier. Some of us understand that our brains are all we’ve got to progress in life, kind of makes sense to protect that don’t you think? Anyway great skating, glad to see rollerblading getting this kind of global support!
November 8th, 2009 at 4:46 am
To the people bitching bout sizemore wearing a helmet, you’re fucking stupid.
November 8th, 2009 at 5:17 am
based only on the edit, sizemore and probably alfano too, should’ve placed better.. …or better than broskow anyway. i love broskows skatin but he didnt seem to rip it up so much here..
November 8th, 2009 at 6:14 am
still dont understand how broscow got placed so high
November 8th, 2009 at 7:24 am
Hey Yokozuna^^ I have been trying to find out for forever what the W.R.S. winner gets too! You would think some prize money would be involved but I don’t know. Somebody please!!!……….. Besides being considered the #1 skater in the world, what did Aragon get for winning the W.R.S. title?
November 8th, 2009 at 9:34 am
Sizemore was robbed. He should have definitely taken 3rd.
And to the dude talking shit about helmets, you are a fucking idiot.
November 8th, 2009 at 11:22 am
W.R.S Final Should be held at Indoor Skate park Or Stadium! The Outdoor Park and the atmosphere over there not feel like final Competition…
November 8th, 2009 at 11:47 am
good angles, nice coverage, unbiased edit, saw a lil bit of ramdom everybody we wanted to see, i didnt even know joey was there & he nailed sum pretty nice lines & switches…sweet view of CJs last trick on there, really show the complexity of the trick how balls out it was & how solid he nailed it…i aswell agree, im a big broskow fan, but sizemore got robbed. one place is once place, but being in top three is top three in the “world”rolling series.
November 8th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
Besides being considered the #1 skater in the world, what did Aragon get for winning the W.R.S. title?
November 8th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Very damm good JC!
November 8th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
Aragon didn’t get NOTHING for winning the W.R.S. title…
just the title…
November 8th, 2009 at 3:16 pm
Waow !!! Nothing ? W.R.S. is a kind of joke, then ?
November 8th, 2009 at 7:16 pm
Really amazing edit! If its true that the winner gets nothing but recognition, I now see why Broscow was just chillin. Why risk serious injury for a title? Broscow has nothing to prove to anybody. Aragon 5 disaster porn both ways was ridiculous! CJ’s massive gap royal to 5 flat was really well filmed and edited. Superb. J Cloe, your really making rolling look worldclass with this edit. Well done. And by the way David, your helmet was sooo distracting to me when you 3 disaster fished that ledge. lol!
November 8th, 2009 at 7:35 pm
Sick edit…
Where is a litle frenchy Julien ?
November 8th, 2009 at 10:11 pm
to who ever asked about haffey its means he retired it said in the discripition that he fell hard so he retired from the comp.
November 9th, 2009 at 3:51 am
why the fuck do you care so much what aragon won? like what the fuck why should it matter to you, he didnt win shit man, by the way this edit was alot better than brazilionaires, get the fuck out of rollerblading ..if your such an award winning self-centerd bitch like you say in all your interviews why dont you go film a skateboarding video?
November 9th, 2009 at 8:07 am
everyone who placed utilized every part of the park. this is extremely hard to capture on camera. all top three shredded lines around the park just as much, if not more, than stockwell.
I think i only saw Broskow fall twice all evening. CJ simply out hammered Broskow…and Aragon skated circles around everyone like a fucking robot. the placing was as it should have been. Sizemore also shredded…i feel like he should have placed.
to everyone douching on helmets…CJ would have been hospitalized if he hadn’t decided to use his.
November 11th, 2009 at 8:53 am
it didn’t really feel like a competition it was so relaxed..next year it needs to be in a bigger arena, more at stake, get these guys nervous…also helmets? really who the fuck cares if someone is wearing a helmet..you guys are pretty stupid if you are going to comment on someone wearing a helmet…grow a brain please.
