I don´t think the progression is in the shit throwing on the newbies Sam.
It´s by being a role model you achieve it! Kids´ will always be hyped by skating with older skaters. I remember how I felt when I was skating with the older guys. It wasn´t about who of them was the best skater. It was all about them supporting me, believing in me and taking there time to talk and listen to what I had to say. Just hyping me up:)
That´s how you progress the sport in the right direction. By letting everyone join. That´s the main difference I think from back in the days.
Today the older rollers just blames kid for being in their way and complaining about them taking up space.
Remember those are the kids who wishes for new skates on their birthday and buy those rolling films to watch them a thousand times, over and over.

Much love my brothers!

you guys are retarted.. i tend to stay out of online forums but Skating back then was so much more fun than it is today. back then there was respect for the elders and they were looked up to by the younger guys. Why do you think Rollerblading is no longer in X Games etc? it's because there was no respect for the pionners who made what it was and full of punk ass little kids with massive chips on their shoulders running around like they owned the place... I would give anything to go back to those days of skating when it was fun and it wasn't full of dick head little kids thinking they know everything wearing girls pants and acting like the world owes them something!

This takes me back to the day!
I think rollerblading's scene in general is better now, although is not as fun or as big as it used to be, the progression is insane and we are finally building a culture of our own.

This represents when rollerblading was real. This was the prime time of the sport. True, the tricks and style weren't the best at this time. Wasn't as refined as it is today.... but damn, this was the best time of my life skating and being excited about the growth of the culture. I was 23 in 1997 and had been rolling for 3 years at this point. It was amazing to have just seen the sport grow to this level in just 3 years. It blows me away to see where we are today! Rolling is and has been a big part of my life and always makes me smile when I think back and when I think of the future. I wish I was 23 again and not 33, haha! Still roll, but it isn't as easy as it used to be!

I still have a FR t-shirt and the necklace, haha!
