man, i an so glad skating isnt this gay anymore. i know that sounds harsh, but having to put up with that pressure, coaches, and drama is stupid. i really respect thses guys, but rollerblading is way better now i think. not as wealthy or recognized as it should be, but better

  2. guy Says:

Haha I wasnt a skater at his time but it just looks so surreal to me. When he says we kid ourselfes we do it for fun but its really about winning.. :L If someone said that nowdays Id just laugh till it hurts.

  3. shima5skater Says:

haha wow that was pretty bad damn

  4. Jiggah me Says:

I think the commentary was very pompous…

  5. Smashing Dumplins' Says:

I was skating when this comp was on and basically the skaters are just skating like they normally do in a comp, but the commentary was just a load of bullshit to try build up the viewer’s excitement, but instead it just sounds ridiculous, ive always thought that about commentary from ryan jacklone, brian smith, rawlinson, brooke and arlo, good guys but way too cheesy on the mic.

  6. cody sanda's Says:

“we all kid ourselves that it doesnt really matter, that its all about fun.”

    what a fucking jackass.
    thats all skatings about.
someone get this shit off of youtube

  7. Jay Says:

Yeah the commentary was lame but I still love this video. I mean its funny cause theres kids out there skating who don’t even know who louie zamora is. I worshiped the ground he walked on as a kid and still think he has the best style in rollerblading. Whoever found this thanks cause it brought back some memories.

  8. rollerblading is gay Says:

glad rollerblading isnt like this anymore? what? exposure? obviously new kids dont know…but during these times with this kind of exposure…lots of people started rollerblading. and with that said…this kind of exposure has brought up a lot of the pro’s you see today. yes the commentary was weird and pat parnell is a fag. i agree with that. but to say that rollerblading shouldnt be like this is a half assed attempt to be on “the right side” of rollerblading.

  9. akari Says:

i want pawn wrist gaurds again! Them shit was sooo HOT!

  10. Rob C Says:

How many of those FR guys still skate today? I know a good chunk of the Senate/Medium guys I saw in the video are still skating, do you think its because they had more fun? I have this video, its called “Its all Good” and after watching it a couple of times, I noticed those FR guys didnt look like they were having fun. Shit, Gill Vasquez was getting coached by Nick Hartman! I dont think anyone should take rollerblading too seriously because for most people, all it will get them is bloody shins and good friends.

  11. Rob C Says:

Another thing, what happened to “FR Forever”? That company died after a couple of years, I guess they took themselves too seriously and they didn’t sell-out like Senate did. Look who survived, Senate sold out and they are still around today, FR said was like “we will take care of shit ourselves” and look what happened to them. Rollerblading needs to “sell-out” or its going to die.

  12. Iroll Says:

man, thats kinda weird how when it was so gay that it was so popular

but seriously, its come a long way from people shiting themselves over a top soul, now it takes like a crazy spin ao top trick to get us going insane

  13. Smashing Dumplins' Says:

Senates not around is it? I would put money on it that its dead man, has been for a couple of years ish.

These were amazing days, it wasn’t about scaring yourself, more about looking relaxed and smooth, not tech and crazy.

The guys you see skating in this video are legends, to people who have been skating as long as I have, but to all the new kids on the scene, they watch this and think stupid these stupid kids going mental over a topsoul! well check this out, in 10 years time the new generation on the scene will be thinking the exact same thing about you!

  14. Rob C Says:

Okay, my mistake. Looks like Senate went down in 2006 (mabey?). Still, it out lasted FR. Senate used to be the shit back in the day. My first “aggressive” set-up was all senate; 62mm Arlo Lonestars on the outside, 44mm C-notes on the inside, Green Senate Wrenches. Those were on my Lightning TRS skates… To me, Senate hasn’t been the same since that video “project mayhem”.

  15. oldman Says:

that was the year I had to stop for years, caused by a serious spine injury, not so good memories,
but on the other side this contest stuff was good cause people get to no the names and the trademarks of rollin the money helped skaters to make a living of it, the real skating was allready on the streets and the level was much better than this video shows. Look at todays LG contests, no aragon, haffey… can really do what they are able to in such a format. look some old zamora and latimer stuff for example they were able to do serious tricks with these shitty skates :-). Buy the dvd “respect” for example!

  16. -ninja- Says:

yeh I found this video in a video store years ago if its the same vid, its like team FR VS. some other team. The two teams almost had a fight I think, they went through training and everything. there was a kid who wanted to be on the FR team so they took him to a handrail and the FR pimp was asking him to do tricks like farside soul to see if he was good enough. It was pretty funny

  17. truesoul Says:

dont take that video too seriously. thats just skate propaganda. if u watch real skater produced videos from back then they were cool, what u just watched is a 90’s edit by people who want to sell things. it is aimed to get kids to start skating and buying stuff. i was skating back then. street videos were much better. senate is still around but it sold out a loong time ago. Arlo left in 2000 i think, he was the creative force behind their company, their wheels now look like shit. i used to skate senate matty mantz lill big wheelz on fatty pros. dope.

  18. becci Says:

    firstly senate IS still about,
2ndly…respect the past of the sport don’t say oh thats week going nuts over a topsoul…it was 10 years ago…the soul space was the size of your pinky! shows progression! someday it will be bigger again

  19. truesoul Says:

lol i had some lonestars too, i had a lot of their wheels, TJ webber, brian konoske, roadhouse crayon antirockers, matty mantz as i said, lowriders (piecev of shit they were, always chunked) i also had the first m12’s, oxygen argons and k2 backyard and then fatty pros. k2s were mad back in the day.

  20. LIFE+ Says:

That was from an amazing movie called “Its All Good” - So bad its good is more like it. FR FOREVER!

  21. el nino Says:

Dude u cant imagine how i miss this ..

    F orever !

  22. tek 2 Says:

I seen that film its so cheesy lol but I actually liked it, who remembers Chris Edwards final thought at the end where hes smoking and then goes; ‘its all good’ lmao I love to see aragon and murda doing such cheese.

  23. bakes Says:

So many memories of great skaters. The voice over is a bit on the extreme side of things. Always wanted to skate a ASR park so sexy.

  24. booby Says:

still have my “your wheels suck!” t-shirt, and the original Senate Kill t-shirt.

  25. fernandos241 Says:

    this is fucking amazing

  26. W.N.H.2 Says:

    1. Senate can only be found online at some of our websites and at big 5 for about 20 bucks and their a piece of shit ever since Hyper bought them out completely. Second this video didn’t really show them at their best. The first acid drop I’d ever seen on tv was from DL and Zamora was doing switch up grinds the next year on tv at NISS and ASA. Arlo was still killing shit and guys Shima weren’t even around at that time. Remember this is before USD and Way before Deshi so since This video is so old you have to remember that a few tricks weren’t out back then, of course most of them were but not with the same level of style. I’m very happy that I was able to see this cause I was skating for about 3-4 years before this was ever made. God I’m old. I still have a Old Senate shirt that Brooke-Howard Smith was wearing as well as the FR (Fucking Retards/Fuck Recreational/Fuck Rollerblade/ For Real/Find Reefer) shirt, this definitely brought back memories… Thanks.

  27. Benjamin Says:

Memories are killing me…dammit, are we old or what? :D I saw a fucking K2 Fatty! K2! Man…I’m feeling great, I will go skate now…before my old bones get to weak for this! :D

  28. mushroom Says:

Koubis, tu veux pas bloquer la fonction commentaire?

  29. booby Says:

Arlo was still killing shit and guys Shima weren’t even around at that time.

    Shima is in that movie.

  30. tek II Says:

shima isn’t in its all good he wasn’t around first guy was right.

  31. jo Says:

i think rollin is more gay as these times…sorry, but look at our scene, only idiots everywhere…

  32. jai Says:

This represents when rollerblading was real. This was the prime time of the sport. True, the tricks and style weren’t the best at this time. Wasn’t as refined as it is today…. but damn, this was the best time of my life skating and being excited about the growth of the culture. I was 23 in 1997 and had been rolling for 3 years at this point. It was amazing to have just seen the sport grow to this level in just 3 years. It blows me away to see where we are today! Rolling is and has been a big part of my life and always makes me smile when I think back and when I think of the future. I wish I was 23 again and not 33, haha! Still roll, but it isn’t as easy as it used to be!

I still have a FR t-shirt and the necklace, haha!

  33. Stu Says:

    Dustin Latimers 540 is sick.

  34. mariachi82 Says:

This takes me back to the day!
I think rollerblading’s scene in general is better now, although is not as fun or as big as it used to be, the progression is insane and we are finally building a culture of our own.

  35. boogy Says:

was that rachard in the beginning?

  36. booby Says:

shima is definately in the background.

  37. Eric Says:

I went there once, perfect park for runs.

  38. Sam Says:

you guys are retarted.. i tend to stay out of online forums but Skating back then was so much more fun than it is today. back then there was respect for the elders and they were looked up to by the younger guys. Why do you think Rollerblading is no longer in X Games etc? it’s because there was no respect for the pionners who made what it was and full of punk ass little kids with massive chips on their shoulders running around like they owned the place… I would give anything to go back to those days of skating when it was fun and it wasn’t full of dick head little kids thinking they know everything wearing girls pants and acting like the world owes them something!

  39. Douche-inator Says:

    Nick Hartman=Douche.

Nice turtleneck there, Mr. Double Chin.

  40. Old-R Says:

somebody went to jail for kiddy porn and is in this vid…

  41. Victorious Says:

I don´t think the progression is in the shit throwing on the newbies Sam.
It´s by being a role model you achieve it! Kids´ will always be hyped by skating with older skaters. I remember how I felt when I was skating with the older guys. It wasn´t about who of them was the best skater. It was all about them supporting me, believing in me and taking there time to talk and listen to what I had to say. Just hyping me up:)
That´s how you progress the sport in the right direction. By letting everyone join. That´s the main difference I think from back in the days.
Today the older rollers just blames kid for being in their way and complaining about them taking up space.
Remember those are the kids who wishes for new skates on their birthday and buy those rolling films to watch them a thousand times, over and over.

    Much love my brothers!
