15 Minutes with Jess Dyrenforth

Jess Dyrenforth

quoting One Magazine :

According to Arlo Eisenberg, there may not be anyone more qualified to reflect on the state of rollerblading than Jess Dyrenforth.

So we had Arlo interview Jess for our 15 Minutes profile in One Issue #5. Read the full story there, but be sure to check out these photos showcasing both the work and life of Jess, and enjoy an excerpt from the interview.

We need more active veterans in our trade. Just because a roller is 30 years old and above doesn’t mean you have to treat him like a centenarian and put him in the masters division on every competition he joins *coughcoughJonJuliocoughcoughcough* . Look at Matt Hoffman. That dude is 35 years old and has been through more accidents and wipeouts than a stupid kid playing Burnout and he’s still doing his thing. What about Rodney Mullen? He’s already 40 but still devising many ways to make skateboarding actually look cooler than the repetitive gay flip on the El Moron spot. Bring out the veterans! Your bones don’t actually fail you until 40 years old unless you’ve been dodging milk and calcium like a young African kid back in the 70’s (No offense to my black brothers since racism was really high in the older days).
